Comprising the Conservation Data Team (CDT) and Conservation Strategy Team (CST), the IST collaborates closely to deliver comprehensive support. The CDT oversees data capacity building, data quality assurance, scientific and systems advancements, and organizational reporting, including executive and global board-level insights and recommendations. The position partners closely with regional MEL leads to harmonize CDT’s assistance with regional MEL priorities, workflows, and operational frameworks.

Essential functions include conducting comprehensive analyses of financial data, preparing detailed reports, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. Key responsibilities encompass overseeing budgetary processes, identifying cost-saving opportunities, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to optimize financial performance. Additionally, the role demands proficient use of accounting software, rigorous attention to detail, and adherence to established accounting principles. Excellent communication skills are vital for presenting financial insights to stakeholders, while strong problem-solving abilities are required to address discrepancies and streamline financial operations. In this role, the advisor will function as a cross-cultural and organizational liaison while championing continuous learning, ensuring that innovative products and methodologies developed in the Africa region or elsewhere across TNC are disseminated and adapted collaboratively. This process will culminate in a unified conservation data toolkit that is both standardized for TNC and tailored to the region’s specific needs.

The Africa Conservation Data Advisor will cultivate and sustain robust, trusted partnerships with pivotal leaders and experts across the Africa Region, encompassing the monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) regional team, specialists, scientists, and portfolio managers. By collaborating closely with Africa-based MEL staff, the Advisor will ensure the Conservation and Development Technologies (CDT) support aligns with their strategic objectives for conservation science data, MEL, and reporting—thereby strengthening evidence-based adaptive management within the Africa Portfolio. This role will partner with regional MEL leaders and external stakeholders to tailor science data support to high-priority needs, enhancing MEL data quality and advancing adaptive management practices. The Advisor will work in tandem with the Africa MEL lead, CDT team members, and the CST Africa regional counterpart to guarantee cohesive support across MEL and strategic initiatives. Additionally, the position will facilitate the delivery of CDT solutions while providing specialized technical and data science expertise.
