Job Summary

The Relationship Manager will spearhead business growth initiatives by acquiring new customers, expanding existing portfolios, mobilizing deposits, and cultivating strong customer relationships—all while delivering exceptional service. Additionally, the role will oversee portfolio quality, assist with recovery efforts, and uphold compliance with regulatory standards and the Bank’s established policies and procedures.

The role encompasses a comprehensive set of duties and responsibilities designed to ensure operational efficiency and organizational success. Key responsibilities involve overseeing daily operations, managing workflows, and coordinating with cross-functional teams to achieve project objectives. Additionally, the position requires meticulous attention to detail in monitoring performance metrics, analyzing data trends, and implementing strategic improvements. Strong leadership and problem-solving skills are essential to address challenges proactively and foster a collaborative work environment. Collaboration with stakeholders is critical to align efforts with broader business goals while maintaining compliance with industry regulations. The ideal candidate will demonstrate adaptability, strong communication abilities, and a commitment to delivering high-quality results in a fast-paced setting.

Achieve established business objectives in areas including customer acquisition, deposit mobilization, asset growth, profitability, and market share expansion.

Develop and maintain a robust pipeline of prospective customers while fostering deeper connections with existing clients to improve retention rates and expand wallet share.

Leverage strategic market insights to identify and pursue growth opportunities across the Bank’s retail, SME, and corporate business portfolios.

Drive sales and expand the adoption of the Bank’s offerings through strategic cross-selling initiatives, thereby optimizing revenue generation and strengthening customer relationships.

Collaborate with branch teams and other business units to drive growth of the Bank’s asset and liability portfolios.

Draft comprehensive credit proposals and collaborate closely with the Credit Department to facilitate prompt and streamlined processing of facilities.

Monitor portfolio performance vigilantly while addressing delinquencies and recoveries proactively to uphold portfolio quality and reduce non-performing loans.

Regularly engage with customers through on-site visits while delivering prompt, high-quality support to enhance satisfaction and foster long-term relationships.

Collect and analyze market intelligence to identify strategic opportunities, then propose data-driven recommendations for product and service enhancements that strengthen the Bank’s competitive position.

Effectively oversee sales and relationship management expenditures to maximize resource allocation and enhance overall profitability.

To facilitate informed decision-making, compile and deliver regular business performance and portfolio reports.

Maintain full adherence to all regulatory obligations, Anti-Money Laundering (AML) protocols, Know Your Customer (KYC) guidelines, and internal policies, while supporting robust risk management practices and unwavering ethical standards.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, along with three years of professional experience in software development or a comparable technical role.

• Proficiency in at least one object-oriented programming language such as Java, C++, or Python, coupled with strong problem-solving abilities.

• Demonstrated experience in designing, implementing, and testing scalable software solutions within agile or iterative development environments.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and clients.

• Ability to analyze complex technical challenges, propose viable solutions, and deliver high-quality results under tight deadlines.

A bachelor’s degree in business, finance, economics, or a closely related discipline is required.

With a minimum of five years of hands-on experience in business development, particularly in direct sales, business management, or corporate relationship oversight within a commercial banking environment in Kenya, you bring a strong and proven track record to the role.

Proven expertise in financial products and services within the banking sector is essential, including a deep comprehension of core offerings such as deposit accounts, loans, mortgages, credit cards, and investment solutions. This knowledge encompasses familiarity with regulatory frameworks, digital banking platforms, and emerging financial technologies that shape modern banking operations.

Demonstrates a comprehensive grasp of credit analysis, portfolio management, and debt recovery strategies.

Demonstrated ability to build and sustain profitable customer relationships.

Exceptional proficiency in negotiation, communication, and presentation is essential.

Proficiency in CBK Prudential Guidelines, AML/CFT regulations, and KYC requirements is essential for this role. A comprehensive understanding of these frameworks is required to ensure full compliance and effective risk management.
