We are seeking a skilled Security Risk Management professional to identify, assess, and mitigate potential threats to our organization’s assets and operations. This role requires a deep understanding of risk assessment methodologies, threat intelligence, and compliance frameworks to develop and implement robust security strategies. Key responsibilities include conducting risk evaluations, monitoring security incidents, and recommending corrective actions to minimize vulnerabilities. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, proficiency in risk management tools, and experience in regulatory compliance. A background in cybersecurity, information security, or related fields is essential, along with relevant certifications such as CISSP, CASM, or RISC.

Responsible for ensuring adherence to the IRC’s minimum physical security standards across all current and future program sites, offices, guest houses, warehouses, and other contracted facilities by conducting on-site evaluations and reviewing assessments performed by Country Programs.

Provide assistance to Country Programs in revising Standard Operating Procedures and Contingency Plans to maintain consistency and ensure contextual relevance, as requested.

Evaluate regional disparities and design uniform tools, templates, and guidance documents that can be uniformly adopted throughout the area.

Enhance the efficacy of IRC security systems, tools, and methodologies by collaborating closely with stakeholders at the Country, Regional, and Global levels.

Conduct ongoing assessments of emerging threats and critical vulnerabilities within the designated region, then propose and implement strategic mitigation measures to enhance security posture.

Enhance security risk management practices through a data-driven approach across the entire region.

Facilitate the responsible integration of AI technologies while pioneering novel methodologies to strengthen security risk management and deepen contextual analysis capabilities.

Serve as the authorized representative of the Regional Safety and Security Director for both internal and external engagements upon request.

Periodically deployed to country programs to provide surge support, cover gaps, and facilitate high-profile visits.

Serve as a strategic advisor to the Regional Safety and Security Director, focusing on regional risk trends, prioritization frameworks, and optimal resource allocation strategies.

Monitoring and reporting activities are conducted to provide accurate, up-to-date insights into the status and performance of systems, processes, or projects. This involves collecting and analyzing data in real-time or at regular intervals to identify trends, anomalies, or potential issues. The role requires vigilance, attention to detail, and proficiency in data interpretation tools. Key responsibilities include documenting findings in structured reports, presenting actionable recommendations, and ensuring stakeholders remain informed through timely updates. Strong analytical skills and the ability to communicate complex information clearly are essential for effectively supporting decision-making processes.

Spearhead the creation of an annual regional security report, which encompasses comprehensive risk analysis, incident trends, notable successes, identified challenges, and strategic forward-looking priorities.

Monitor incident reports submitted via the IRC’s online reporting system to assess their overall quality, and offer strategic recommendations to Country Programs aimed at enhancing both reporting timeliness and accuracy.

Ensure that users in the East Africa region are granted proper access rights to the IRC’s online reporting system and maintain an up-to-date user list.

Act as the primary regional liaison for addressing system functionality and access management concerns within the IRC’s online reporting system, escalating issues to Headquarters as required.

Perform a yearly evaluation of documented security incidents to discern critical patterns and extract practical insights that will enhance overall security risk management strategies.

On a quarterly basis, verify that Country Programs submit the necessary information electronically to evaluate adherence to the IRC’s Security Minimum Standards. Following the completion of these submissions, analyze the compliance findings and provide a detailed report to the Regional Safety and Security Director (RSSD), highlighting key successes, challenges, and areas requiring additional support across the region.

Learning and Development professionals design, implement, and evaluate initiatives to enhance employee skills, knowledge, and performance. They collaborate with stakeholders to identify training needs, develop customized programs, and leverage diverse learning methods to meet organizational goals. Responsibilities include facilitating workshops, creating instructional materials, and measuring program effectiveness through feedback and assessments. Ideal candidates possess strong communication and instructional design skills, along with experience in adult learning principles and technology-enabled training solutions.

Collaborate with Country Programs to establish and execute annual security learning and development initiatives that are tailored to address operational risks.

Assess capacity deficiencies and develop customized training interventions aligned with the specific requirements of the country and region.

You will conduct regional and country-specific training sessions, encompassing Training of Trainers programs, after successfully meeting IRC’s stringent internal certification criteria.

Deploy to various country programs to facilitate training sessions and uphold the quality of their implementation.

Collaborate with the Global Learning and Development team to verify that East Africa region trainings align with IRC’s established standards.

Design and conduct Critical Incident Management Team simulations and exercises upon request from Country Programs and the Region, in collaboration with the Global Director of Incident Management.

Conduct thorough after-action reviews and compile detailed learning reports to foster ongoing enhancement and development.

Monitor training delivery throughout the region and provide quarterly progress updates to the Regional Safety and Security Director.

To fulfill this requirement, provide coaching and mentoring to critical personnel, fostering the development of robust, sustainable security capabilities within the country.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Requires at least six years of professional experience in safety and security risk management within humanitarian or high-risk operational settings.

Professional experience collaborating across diverse international settings is required, with a preference for candidates who have worked in the East African region.

Demonstrates a strong capacity to function effectively at both strategic and operational tiers.

Skilled in developing and implementing training programs across diverse settings, with a proven ability to adapt instructional strategies to varied audiences and environments.

Capable of synthesizing extensive data sets to produce compelling briefings and practical, actionable insights.

Proven ability to analyze complex security data and generate insightful reports using established systems and methodologies.

Proficient in both written and oral communication with clarity and precision.
