An application specialist at Pirates is responsible for developing and evaluating products, validating their commercial viability, and delivering customized solutions to address specific customer needs, primarily at an industrial scale within the bakery, pastry, and chocolate industries.

Providing expert technical guidance to industrial bakeries and pâtisseries to enhance their operational efficiency and product quality.
Explore innovative resolutions to address customer inquiries, providing guidance during the integration of products and concepts to ensure optimal outcomes.
Forging robust, enduring relationships with designated accounts represents a key responsibility of this role.
Assisting the Research and Development Director in executing research initiatives and spearheading the creation of innovative products.
Collaborating closely with clients to discern their specific requirements and jointly develop customized solutions that align with their objectives.
Spearheading initiatives to implement both existing and new products within clients’ operational environments.
Translate Pirates Group’s New Product Development guidelines to align with the Kenya market, facilitating the seamless introduction of new products by conducting test bakes, distributing samples, and delivering training sessions.
Responsibilities include proactively identifying and evaluating emerging business opportunities as well as potential risks to current portfolios, with the objective of equipping the business development team to achieve and surpass sales targets effectively.
Working collaboratively within multifunctional teams alongside local Technical, Marketing, and Sales colleagues—or engaging with Pirates’ expansive and diverse global network—utilizes advanced collaborative tools and data analytics to drive cohesive decision-making and operational excellence.
Stay informed about current and emerging trends in baking and ingredients, while possessing a comprehensive understanding of all Pirates products.
Develop and sustain enduring, robust relationships with customers while cultivating a professional network comprising both internal Pirates experts and external specialists in ingredients and equipment.
What we expect from you
A Bachelor’s degree in Food Science or a closely related discipline is required.
With a minimum of five years of practical expertise in the industrial bakery industry, the ideal candidate will bring a wealth of relevant experience to the role.
You are driven by a deep enthusiasm for food and an unwavering commitment to ethical practices that benefit the planet and future generations.
A strong grasp of pâtisserie automation methodologies, analytical techniques, and new product development (NPD) processes is required, along with expertise in ingredient selection to craft and refine nutritious yet delectable products.
Possesses a comprehensive knowledge of the roles and interactions between ingredients, additives, and fundamental food chemistry principles.
Proficiency in utilizing professional software tools, including CRM systems, spreadsheets, and presentation applications, is required. The candidate must demonstrate strong computer skills to effectively manage data, create reports, and deliver clear presentations.
Possesses a comprehensive understanding of process operations and equipment, as well as finished goods.
Customer-focused with a keen aptitude for driving business growth.
Proficient in transforming innovative concepts into compelling, market-ready products while adhering to the constraints and workflows of a high-volume manufacturing setting.
