A rapidly expanding hospitality company based in East Africa is in search of a highly organized, proactive, and ethical General Accountant to oversee core financial functions. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing daily financial transactions, maintaining accurate accounting records, managing accounts payable and receivable, ensuring full adherence to regulatory requirements, and generating accurate monthly financial reports in a timely manner.

A gross monthly salary of KES 60,000 is offered for this position.

Oversee and execute core duties and responsibilities essential to the role, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and operational standards. Perform a range of tasks that encompass key functions, including but not limited to strategic planning, process optimization, and performance monitoring. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive project execution, foster innovation, and maintain high levels of productivity. Uphold accountability for deliverables, timelines, and quality benchmarks while adhering to established policies and procedures. Serve as a resource for team members, providing guidance, support, and professional development opportunities to enhance overall team effectiveness.

Ensure all daily journal entries are accurately recorded and processed to maintain the general ledger’s currency and accuracy.

Compile and submit all statutory returns punctually, covering VAT, PAYE, Withholding Tax, SHIP, NSSF, and the Affordable Housing Levy through the KRA tax portal.

Conduct weekly and monthly reconciliations of bank, supplier, and customer statements to identify and resolve any discrepancies.

Oversee the processing of invoices, monitor client aging reports, pursue outstanding debts, and coordinate the scheduling of supplier payments.

Compile the monthly payroll with precision, calculating salaries, benefits, and deductions accurately.

Support the development of monthly balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow projections for executive assessment.

Prepare and maintain organized financial documents and files to facilitate both internal and external annual audit procedures effectively.

Handle any additional tasks or responsibilities as assigned.

A minimum of four years of practical accounting experience, ideally in the hospitality sector, is required.

Proven expertise in accounting software applications and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel at an intermediate-to-advanced level.

A solid grasp of Kenyan tax regulations and hands-on proficiency in using the KRA tax system are essential.
