The successful candidate will be a meticulous and collaborative professional responsible for managing the complete order lifecycle. Duties include evaluating proposals, securing favorable pricing, identifying optimal suppliers, evaluating market trends, tracking order progress, confirming timely delivery, authorizing payments, and ensuring accurate documentation.

We are seeking a dedicated professional to oversee a diverse range of critical tasks, ensuring operational efficiency and excellence. The role involves managing project timelines, coordinating team efforts, and maintaining high standards of quality across all deliverables. Additionally, the position requires thorough documentation of processes, proactive problem-solving, and adherence to established protocols. Strong communication skills are essential to facilitate collaboration with stakeholders, while meticulous attention to detail ensures accuracy in all aspects of the work. Proficiency in relevant software tools and a commitment to continuous improvement are also key requirements for success in this position.

Oversee the complete procurement and logistics processes for all approved engineering and maintenance parts and equipment, ensuring timely acquisition and delivery as needed.

Coordinate with engineering stores to procure spares and consumables efficiently while upholding optimal re-order levels and lead times for various stock items, ensuring timely availability based on part consumption rates, delivery terms, and clearance durations.

Coordinate the processing of spare parts for both domestic and international orders, ensuring timely clearing and forwarding, while providing updates to the plant engineer as needed.

Serve as the primary point of contact with engineering suppliers to address and resolve inquiries or issues concerning deliveries, payments, shipping, procurement, and compliance with standards, providing guidance to the plant engineer as required.

Ensure all local and international orders are delivered safely and appropriately.

Duly approved purchase requisitions, signed by the plant engineer, are received from the chief storekeeper, after which relevant quotations or pro forma invoices are sourced.

Prepare petty cash vouchers, with approval from the plant engineer, to facilitate cash purchases of urgent items, and maintain accurate reconciliation and tallying as needed.

Ensure timely follow-up with suppliers and contractors regarding checks and advance payments after deliveries or project completion, adhering to their specified terms to maintain strong professional relationships.

Ensure the engineering department’s procurement activities remain within budgeted estimates by coordinating closely with senior management.

Proactively maintain the availability of essential parts and equipment to meet operational demands, ensuring minimal wait times and swift response to minimize downtime effectively.

Your dedication will play a pivotal role in advancing both the company’s objectives and the engineering department’s strategic goals, ensuring meaningful contributions to our shared success.

Develop and submit annual, quarterly, monthly, semi-annual, and weekly procurement plans to the plant engineer for review and approval.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED FOR THIS ROLE include a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, such as Computer Science, Engineering, or Business Administration, supplemented by at least three years of professional experience in a comparable position. Candidates must demonstrate exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, along with the ability to work effectively within a collaborative team environment. Strong proficiency in industry-standard software tools and a solid understanding of project management principles are essential. Additionally, excellent communication abilities, both written and verbal, are required to convey complex ideas clearly to stakeholders at all levels. Preferred qualifications include prior experience in a leadership role and certifications relevant to the position.

A bachelor’s degree in either Mechanical or Electrical Engineering is required.

A Diploma in Purchasing & Supplies Management or a professional CAPS qualification will be considered a valuable asset.

Skilled in procuring technical components and materials within a manufacturing environment, with a track record of successful sourcing initiatives.

Strong interpersonal abilities, a keen commercial acumen, and unwavering ethical standards are essential for this role.

A minimum of five years of pertinent professional experience is required.
