The Clinical Officer will report directly to the Deputy Director of Human Resource Management, with the primary responsibility of delivering clinical services to employees of the Institute and their dependents as required, thereby supporting the maintenance of a healthy workforce.

The officer’s role will encompass a comprehensive set of duties and responsibilities, including:

The position involves overseeing the daily functions and operational activities of the Clinic.

The Clinic’s annual budget, work plan, and procurement plan are prepared by this role, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and operational needs.

Performing any necessary minor surgical procedures constitutes a key responsibility of this role.

We verify that employees and their dependents receive the appropriate medical care by conducting thorough patient histories, performing comprehensive examinations, establishing accurate diagnoses, and recommending suitable treatment plans.

Staff are directed to appropriate care facilities to facilitate their access to accurate treatment and necessary services for themselves and their dependents.

We oversee the dispensing of prescribed medications to ensure strict adherence to established standards and procedures.

To safeguard the Institute’s resources, maintain accountability for the proper distribution and management of medical supplies, thereby preventing loss, damage, or unnecessary wastage.

Responsibilities include authorizing invoices for delivered goods to confirm their accuracy, verifying that the invoiced amounts correspond precisely to the received quantities.

Reviewing, validating, and authorizing requisitions for pharmaceuticals, laboratory reagents, and other essential medical supplies to facilitate seamless clinical operations.

Responsible for authenticating and validating medical claims and reimbursement documents through signatures.

Facilitating staff education and awareness initiatives on diverse health topics, in collaboration with pertinent governmental bodies, to bolster employee understanding and preparedness.

Providing guidance and support to staff regarding health concerns to ensure these issues do not adversely impact the workplace environment.

Convening health assessments to ascertain the prevalence of alcohol, drug, and substance misuse among employees, thereby quantifying the scope of the issue and guiding subsequent interventions.

To safeguard the environment and mitigate risks of accidents, this role involves meticulously managing and disposing of hazardous waste in compliance with regulatory standards.

Compiling clinical reports in strict adherence to the directives issued by the Ministry of Health constitutes a key responsibility.

Responsible for overseeing and coordinating the duty roster to ensure proper staffing coverage in the Clinic.

Person Specifications

For consideration for this position, candidates must meet the following criteria:

A recognized institution must award a Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Medicine and Surgery or an equivalent qualification.

A recognized institution must have awarded a minimum grade of C+ (Plus) in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE) or an equivalent qualification.

Licensed by the Clinical Officers Council of Kenya.

A current, active professional license issued by the Council on Chiropractic (COC) is required.

A diploma or certification in computer applications is required for this position.

Ensure compliance with all provisions outlined in Chapter Six of the Constitution.

Demonstrated expertise in critical competencies and essential skills required to excel in the role.

Effective leadership capabilities are essential for this role.

Exceptional analytical abilities to identify, assess, and resolve complex issues efficiently.

Experienced professionals must exhibit exceptional communication skills, both verbally and in writing, to collaborate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders.
