Job Purpose

The Chief Growth Officer will spearhead AMSL’s strategic transformation, driving revenue expansion, optimizing operational frameworks, and enhancing service productization, client delivery, and technology commercialization. Additionally, the role is responsible for strengthening institutional capacity. Collaborating closely with the Managing Director and Board, the Chief Growth Officer will guide AMSL’s evolution from a project-based HR consulting and recruitment firm into a scalable, high-performance organization with a technology-driven, diversified portfolio of HR solutions.

Oversee and manage core duties to ensure operational excellence, including developing and implementing strategic initiatives, maintaining compliance with industry regulations, and fostering collaboration across departments to achieve organizational objectives. Lead cross-functional teams to optimize performance, identify growth opportunities, and drive continuous improvement through data-driven decision-making and innovative solutions. Responsible for budget oversight, resource allocation, and risk assessment to sustain long-term profitability and sustainability. Serve as a primary liaison with stakeholders, ensuring transparent communication and alignment with business goals. Additionally, mentor and develop team members to enhance productivity and professional development while upholding high standards of accountability and integrity in all operations.

The ideal applicant will undertake the following duties:

Translating AMSL’s expansion strategy into yearly operational plans, revenue objectives, performance frameworks, and monitoring dashboards.

Responsibilities include spearheading revenue expansion across a diverse portfolio of HR services, encompassing consulting, recruitment, payroll outsourcing, HR outsourcing, training, HR technology, salary surveys, and employer-of-record solutions.

Developing a robust commercial framework entails establishing and nurturing sales pipelines, managing key accounts, monitoring tender processes, crafting compelling proposals, and fostering strategic partnerships.

Transforming AMSL’s services into structured, market-ready offerings entails establishing concise, well-defined solutions characterized by transparent scope parameters, competitive pricing structures, precise timelines, standardized templates, and rigorous delivery benchmarks.

Developing robust operational systems is essential, encompassing project management, quality assurance, client success initiatives, service-level standards, and performance reporting mechanisms.

We aim to drive recurring revenue by offering payroll services, HR outsourcing solutions, subscriptions for HRMS and ATS platforms, retainer-based engagements, training programs, and salary data products.

Facilitating the commercialization of AMSL’s HR technology platforms, which encompass ATS, HRMS, payroll, and HR data solutions.

Enhancing recruitment and executive search functions by developing sector-specific desks, expanding talent pools, maintaining robust candidate databases, and fostering long-term client relationships.

Driving the growth and excellence of high-performing teams across diverse functions—including business development, consulting, recruitment, payroll, training, technology, research, and operations.

Overseeing financial performance metrics, ensuring project profitability, analyzing margins, managing debtors, identifying operational risks, and upholding compliance standards are key responsibilities of this role.

Facilitating collaboration among regional and international partners to enhance talent mobility, employer-of-record services, and expansion initiatives across East Africa.

Applicants must possess a minimum of five years of experience in a relevant field, along with a bachelor’s degree in a related discipline. Proficiency in industry-standard software and tools is essential, and candidates should demonstrate strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Prior leadership or supervisory roles are preferred, and familiarity with project management methodologies is advantageous. A commitment to continuous learning and adaptability to evolving industry trends is also required. Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail are critical to success in this position.

The preferred applicant must possess the following qualifications:

A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resource Management, Commerce, Economics, Finance, Technology, Organizational Development, or a closely related discipline is required.

A Master’s degree in Business Administration, Strategy, Human Resource Management, Organizational Development, Finance, or a related discipline is highly advantageous.

Requires a minimum of 10 to 15 years of steadily advancing leadership experience, including at least five years in a senior management capacity.

Proven track record in scaling business units, professional services firms, HR outsourcing enterprises, recruitment agencies, payroll providers, consulting organizations, BPO companies, SaaS/technology-enabled businesses, or regional service providers.

Proven track record in driving revenue expansion, cultivating business partnerships, overseeing operational efficiency, nurturing client relationships, and leading high-performing teams.

Proficiency in areas such as HR consulting, recruitment, payroll administration, outsourcing, training and development, HR technology solutions, or professional services is highly advantageous.

International or regional business experience is highly desirable.

Demonstrated proficiency in essential skills and abilities required for the role is crucial. Drives incremental revenue growth and consistently meets or exceeds annual business objectives.

We seek to expand consistent revenue streams derived from recurring client engagements such retainers, payroll processing, outsourcing solutions, HRMS/ATS platforms, and subscription-based services.

Successfully acquired a specified number of new retained clients and high-value strategic accounts.

Proposal conversion rate, alongside the value of the sales pipeline, serves as a key performance indicator for evaluating the effectiveness of our proposal development efforts and overall sales performance. This metric highlights the percentage of proposals that successfully convert into closed deals, while also assessing the monetary worth of potential future revenue represented by active sales opportunities in the pipeline.

Managed employees on payroll and onboarded clients utilizing HR outsourcing services.

Executive recruitment placements and strategic search assignments have been successfully completed.

Training revenue is generated through public workshops, corporate trainings, and participant engagement, driving overall financial performance and growth.

HRMS/ATS clients, both those utilizing subscription-based models and those engaged in technology product commercialization, are key priorities for this role.

Ensuring adherence to project delivery schedules, maintaining high levels of client satisfaction, and upholding rigorous quality assurance standards.

Profitability, gross margins, debtor management, and operational efficiency are key areas of focus to ensure financial health and sustainable growth.

Design and implementation of organizational frameworks, standard operating procedures, analytical dashboards, and performance management systems for the business unit.
