JOB PURPOSE

The position entails overseeing the complete lifecycle of a designated portfolio of corporate medical schemes, from initial evaluation through to renewal. Key duties include conducting risk assessments, determining pricing strategies, managing renewals, and optimizing scheme profitability, alongside strengthening client and intermediary relationships to enhance retention, foster organic growth, and sustain long-term portfolio viability. This role integrates rigorous technical underwriting with proactive account management, guaranteeing that every assigned scheme is renewed competitively, serviced with excellence, and continuously monitored to ensure sustainable loss performance.

We require a candidate with a solid background in relevant fields, demonstrated through formal education and hands-on professional experience. Familiarity with industry-specific tools, methodologies, and best practices is essential, along with the ability to apply this knowledge to solve complex challenges. Prior experience in similar roles or projects will be highly valued, ensuring a smooth transition into the position while contributing meaningfully from the outset.

A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is required, along with a minimum of three years of experience in software development, preferably in a leadership or mentorship role. A strong grasp of the insurance sector is essential, particularly in medical/health insurance products, policy frameworks, and benefit design.

Proficiency in medical loss ratio oversight, claims evaluation, and underwriting methodologies specific to group medical insurance programs is essential.

Proficiency in Kenyan Insurance Regulatory Authority (IRA) guidelines governing Know Your Customer (KYC) and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) compliance is required.

A familiarity with wellness program frameworks and principles of chronic disease management (CDMP) is advantageous.
