Reporting to the Senior ICT Officer, the ICT Intern will acquire hands-on experience in Information Technology within a fast-paced NGO setting. This internship offers exposure to essential ICT functions, such as user support, systems administration, network monitoring, data and systems management, and ICT security operations. The intern will collaborate closely with the ICT team to support daily activities, contribute to active projects, and advance the organization’s mission by maintaining seamless, secure, and dependable ICT services.

Oversee and execute a comprehensive range of duties and responsibilities integral to the role, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and operational standards. Manage critical tasks essential to the position, including but not limited to strategic planning, team coordination, and performance evaluation. Duties encompass a diverse set of responsibilities such as stakeholder engagement, process optimization, and compliance adherence, all while maintaining a high standard of professionalism and accountability. The role demands meticulous attention to detail, proactive problem-solving, and the ability to deliver results within dynamic and challenging environments.

Deliver technical support to employees regarding common software and hardware-related challenges.

Provide support for the setup, configuration, and upkeep of both hardware and software systems.

Conduct network troubleshooting and perform routine maintenance tasks to ensure optimal system performance and reliability.

Conduct ongoing assessments of ICT equipment to ensure timely repairs and consistent maintenance.

Offer technical assistance for information and communication technology during conferences, gatherings, and on-site operations.

Support Information and Communication Technology (ICT) security operations by overseeing potential threats, implementing and maintaining security policies, coordinating audit activities, and verifying adherence to organizational compliance standards.

Unresolved issues must be meticulously documented and promptly escalated to senior ICT personnel for further review and resolution.

Execute additional responsibilities as directed by the ICT supervisor as needed.

Required Academic and Professional Qualifications:

Candidates must possess a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or demonstrate an equivalent combination of education and professional experience. Additionally, three to five years of progressive experience in a related industry is essential. Proficiency in industry-standard software and tools, as well as strong analytical and problem-solving skills, are necessary. Excellent communication abilities, both written and verbal, are also required to collaborate effectively with teams and stakeholders.

Individuals who are currently enrolled in or have recently finished a degree program in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a closely related discipline are encouraged to apply.

Proficiency in both Unix and Windows-based systems, along with a foundational understanding of networking principles, is required.

Proven expertise includes networking, PC maintenance, Microsoft Windows Server administration, Microsoft Active Directory management, desktop operating system proficiency, as well as Cisco routing, switching, and voice technology implementation.

Exceptional ability to build rapport and foster meaningful connections through clear, concise, and persuasive communication.

Demonstrates a proactive approach to acquiring knowledge and quickly adjusting to emerging technological advancements.
