Job Summary
The Utility Technician will oversee the operation, monitoring, and maintenance of pharmaceutical water treatment and compressed air systems, ensuring an uninterrupted supply of high-quality utilities that meet GMP and regulatory standards. This position includes process monitoring, conducting routine sampling and testing, troubleshooting issues, performing preventive maintenance, and maintaining precise operational records to uphold product quality, safety, and compliance.
Key duties involve managing and overseeing daily operations to ensure alignment with organizational goals, developing and implementing strategic initiatives to drive growth, and maintaining compliance with industry regulations and internal policies. Additionally, the role includes fostering collaboration across departments to optimize team performance, analyzing performance metrics to identify areas for improvement, and leading project execution to meet deadlines and budgetary constraints. The position also requires mentoring staff to enhance their professional development and serving as a liaison between senior management and operational teams to facilitate clear communication and decision-making.
Operate and maintain various water treatment systems such as reverse osmosis (RO), electro deionization (EDI), filtration units, water softeners, UV systems, and distribution loops to ensure optimal performance and compliance with water quality standards.
Responsibilities include overseeing and maintaining compressed air systems, such as compressors, dryers, filters, receivers, and distribution networks, to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
Perform regular water sampling and analysis to assess various parameters, such as pH levels, conductivity, microbial presence, and chlorine residuals.
Verify that the quality of compressed air complies with pharmaceutical standards, specifically ISO 8573 and GMP regulations.
Conduct systematic inspections and proactive maintenance on pumps, valves, filters, membranes, and piping systems to ensure operational reliability and efficiency.
Prepare and update operational logs, maintenance records, and test reports with meticulous accuracy to ensure compliance and traceability.
Ensure the safe handling of treatment chemicals while adhering to Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) guidelines at all times.
Facilitate troubleshooting efforts and drive continuous improvement projects to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness.
Seeking a highly motivated individual with a bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent professional experience. Proficiency in Python, Java, or C++ is required, along with 3+ years of experience in software development. Strong problem-solving abilities, teamwork skills, and familiarity with Agile methodologies are essential. Responsibilities include designing, coding, testing, and debugging applications, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and ensuring high-quality deliverables.
A bachelor’s or diploma qualification in Chemical & Process Engineering, Industrial Chemistry, Water Engineering, or a closely related discipline is required.
Three years of relevant experience in utilities operations or as a technician is required.
Prior experience within a pharmaceutical production setting would be highly beneficial.
