Purpose

The Senior Accountant in Asset Management oversees the accounting treatment for all assets, maintains the fixed assets register, and ensures risk management for asset-related activities. Additionally, they handle accounting for accruals and prepayments, tax filings, and regulatory compliance, while ensuring financial reporting adheres to applicable IFRS standards. The role encompasses the management of accounts payable and expenses, the enhancement of internal controls, and support for audit processes. Furthermore, they contribute to budgeting and forecasting initiatives in alignment with company policies.

Job Magnitude

Reports directly to the Finance Manager and collaborates extensively with Projects, Operations, and other internal stakeholders. External interactions involve coordination with suppliers and auditors to ensure alignment with financial and operational objectives.

This position plays a critical role in maintaining financial integrity by ensuring the precise and comprehensive recognition of assets, expenses, and accruals. Its influence extends to enhancing financial reporting quality, audit preparedness, and stakeholder satisfaction through the timely execution of audits and the establishment of robust internal controls.

Assists in the preparation and implementation of budgets and financial forecasts in accordance with established requirements.

The role encompasses a wide range of duties and responsibilities, including overseeing daily operations, managing team performance, and ensuring adherence to company policies and procedures. Additionally, the position requires developing and implementing strategic initiatives to enhance productivity and efficiency, as well as fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for analyzing data to identify trends and opportunities, preparing comprehensive reports for senior management, and coordinating cross-functional projects to achieve organizational goals. Handle all accounting tasks for assets—including fixed, intangible, and IFRS 16-related assets—ensuring full compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) throughout the process.

Perform comprehensive verification of fixed assets and apply asset tags to maintain an accurate, real-time asset register in coordination with the operations team.

Monitor accruals and prepayments to ensure precise recognition timing and adherence to established accounting policies, maintaining accurate financial alignment throughout the process.

Oversee all aspects of the Asset Management function, encompassing the maintenance of the Asset Register, preparation of schedules, generation of reports, and execution of reconciliations.

Prepare audit-ready schedules and supporting documentation for assets, accruals, prepayments, and tax-related matters. Additionally, assist in the preparation of budgets, financial forecasts, and management reporting.

Maintain adherence to tax regulations by overseeing VAT and WHT filings, performing monthly reconciliations, and updating internal ledgers accordingly.

Oversee the renewal of asset insurance to ensure timely coordination of asset risk management.

Perform treasury operations and ensure adherence to regulatory requirements for the holding company.

Accurately document and postpone commission entries in alignment with contractual agreements and anticipated revenue streams.

Execute any additional responsibilities as directed by management, ensuring adherence to organizational objectives and priorities.

Requirements and Skills

A strong proficiency in IFRS is essential, with a working understanding of US GAAP considered a valuable asset.

With a minimum of six years of hands-on experience in fast-paced financial settings, the ideal candidate will demonstrate deep expertise in asset management and a keen attention to compliance standards.

A strong command of Microsoft Excel will be considered an additional asset.

Possesses practical experience utilizing QuickBooks and managing asset management systems proficiently.

Proficiency in Oracle database systems constitutes a valuable asset for this role.
