Role Summary
Reporting directly to the Senior ICT Officer, the ICT Intern will acquire practical experience in Information Technology within a fast-paced NGO setting. This internship offers hands-on exposure to essential ICT functions, such as user support, systems administration, network monitoring, data and systems management, and ICT security operations. Collaborating closely with the ICT team, the intern will participate in day-to-day tasks, contribute to active projects, and advance the organization’s mission by maintaining seamless, secure, and dependable ICT services.
Oversee primary duties and core responsibilities as part of the role, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and operational standards. Execute assigned tasks with precision, maintaining efficiency and adherence to established protocols. Collaborate across teams to deliver cohesive results, fostering clear communication and synergy in project execution. Address challenges proactively, applying problem-solving techniques to mitigate risks and optimize outcomes. Uphold accountability for deliverables, meeting deadlines and quality benchmarks consistently. Participate in strategic planning sessions to contribute insights and support decision-making processes. Stay informed of industry trends and best practices to enhance performance and drive continuous improvement.
Deliver technical support to employees regarding common software and hardware-related challenges.
Provide support for the setup, configuration, and ongoing upkeep of both hardware and software systems.
Provide assistance with the diagnosis and resolution of network issues as well as ongoing network upkeep and management.
Conduct follow-up actions for ICT equipment repairs and maintenance activities.
Offer ICT assistance throughout meetings, events, and on-site field activities.
Support Information and Communication Technology (ICT) security operations by vigilantly monitoring potential threats, upholding and enforcing established security policies, facilitating compliance audits, and ensuring adherence to organizational standards and protocols.
Document issues that remain unresolved and promptly escalate them to senior ICT personnel for further review and resolution.
Execute all additional tasks and responsibilities as directed by the ICT supervisor.
Required academic and professional qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, such as engineering, computer science, or mathematics. A minimum of three years of experience in a related industry is essential, along with proficiency in industry-standard software tools. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are crucial, as is the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are also necessary to effectively convey technical information to diverse stakeholders.
Individuals must either be currently enrolled in or have recently completed a degree program in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a closely related discipline.
Proficient in Unix and Windows-based applications, along with a solid understanding of fundamental networking concepts.
A strong background in networking, PC maintenance, Microsoft Windows Server, Microsoft Active Directory, desktop operating systems, as well as Cisco routing, switching, and voice technologies is required.
Excellent verbal and written communication abilities, coupled with a talent for fostering productive relationships, are essential.
