Reporting to the Senior ICT Officer, the ICT Intern will acquire practical experience in Information Technology within a fast-paced NGO setting. This internship offers exposure to essential ICT functions, such as user support, systems administration, network monitoring, systems and data management, and ICT security operations. The intern will collaborate closely with the ICT team to participate in daily operations, contribute to active projects, and advance the organization’s mission by maintaining seamless, secure, and dependable ICT services.
Oversee and execute a comprehensive range of duties and responsibilities integral to the role, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and operational standards. Facilitate cross-functional collaboration to drive project completion, while maintaining adherence to established protocols and performance benchmarks. Analyze workflows to identify opportunities for efficiency improvements, streamline processes, and mitigate potential risks. Provide leadership in guiding teams toward achieving key performance indicators and fostering a culture of accountability and continuous development. Ensure compliance with industry regulations, company policies, and ethical guidelines throughout all operational activities.
Deliver technical support to staff members regarding common software and hardware-related problems.
Provide support for the installation, configuration, and ongoing maintenance of both hardware and software systems to ensure optimal functionality and performance.
Provide assistance with the diagnosis, resolution, and upkeep of network-related issues to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
Conduct follow-up actions on repairs and maintenance of ICT equipment to ensure timely resolution and optimal functionality.
Offer technical assistance with information and communications technology during conferences, seminars, and on-site engagements.
Provide assistance to ICT Security Operations by monitoring potential threats, implementing security policies, supporting audit processes, and maintaining adherence to organizational standards.
Responsibilities include logging and escalating unresolved matters to senior ICT personnel for further review and resolution.
Execute all additional responsibilities as directed by the ICT supervisor, including but not limited to ad hoc tasks and special projects deemed necessary for departmental operations.
Academic and professional credentials essential for consideration include a relevant degree in a pertinent field from an accredited institution, along with a minimum of [X] years of hands-on experience in a comparable role. Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Proficiency in utilizing applications on Unix and Windows platforms, in addition to foundational knowledge of networking principles, is required.
Proficient in networking infrastructure, PC maintenance, Microsoft Windows Server administration, Microsoft Active Directory management, desktop operating systems, as well as Cisco routing and switching technologies, alongside voice communication systems.
