Job Summary

The Utility Technician will oversee the operation, monitoring, and maintenance of pharmaceutical water treatment and compressed air systems, ensuring a consistent supply of high-quality utilities that meet GMP and regulatory requirements. This position includes process monitoring, conducting routine sampling and testing, diagnosing and resolving issues, performing preventive maintenance, and documenting operational activities with precision to uphold product quality, safety, and compliance standards.

Key accountabilities include overseeing project execution from inception to completion, ensuring adherence to timelines, budget constraints, and quality standards. Additionally, the role requires managing stakeholder communications, coordinating cross-functional teams, and identifying opportunities for process improvements. A strong focus is placed on delivering measurable results while maintaining compliance with industry regulations and company policies.

Operate and oversee water treatment systems such as reverse osmosis (RO), electro deionization (EDI), filtration units, water softeners, ultraviolet (UV) systems, and distribution loops.

Operate and maintain compressed air systems, which encompass compressors, dryers, filters, receivers, and distribution networks, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.

Perform regular water sampling and analysis to assess key parameters such as pH levels, conductivity, microbial presence, and chlorine residuals.

Maintain compliance of compressed air quality with pharmaceutical standards, specifically adhering to ISO 8573 and GMP requirements.

Conduct regular inspections and carry out preventive maintenance on pumps, valves, filters, membranes, and piping systems to ensure optimal performance and reliability.

Ensure the meticulous documentation of operational logs, maintenance records, and test reports to uphold accuracy and compliance with established standards.

Safely manage treatment chemicals while adhering to Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) guidelines.

Collaborate on resolving issues and enhancing system performance through targeted troubleshooting and ongoing improvement efforts.

Qualifications

A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical & Process Engineering, Industrial Chemistry, Water Engineering, or an equivalent discipline is required.

Minimum of three years of hands-on experience in utilities operations or a technician role is required.

Proficiency in a pharmaceutical manufacturing setting would be highly beneficial.

A strong candidate for this position will possess a diverse set of technical proficiencies and personal qualities essential for success.
