The Position
Reporting to the Senior ICT Officer, the ICT Intern will acquire practical experience in Information Technology within a fast-paced NGO setting. The internship aims to familiarize the intern with essential ICT responsibilities, such as technical assistance, systems administration, network monitoring, data and system management, and cybersecurity operations. Collaborating closely with the ICT team, the intern will participate in daily tasks, contribute to active initiatives, and advance the organization’s objectives by maintaining efficient, secure, and dependable ICT services.
Oversee and execute essential duties and responsibilities encompassing a comprehensive range of tasks integral to the role. Lead and manage core functions with precision, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and operational standards. Facilitate seamless workflows through meticulous planning, coordination, and execution of assigned responsibilities. Demonstrate accountability by maintaining high performance standards and delivering consistent results in alignment with established expectations.
Offer technical support to employees by resolving common software and hardware-related challenges.
Support the setup, configuration, and ongoing upkeep of both hardware and software systems to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
Provide assistance with diagnosing and resolving network issues while ensuring consistent system functionality and reliability.
Oversee the tracking and execution of ICT equipment repairs and maintenance activities to ensure optimal functionality and minimal downtime.
Deliver comprehensive ICT support for meetings, events, and field activities to ensure seamless technical operations throughout all engagements.
Provide support to ICT Security Operations by monitoring threats, enforcing security policies, assisting with audits, and ensuring adherence to organizational standards.
Document and forward any unresolved issues to senior ICT personnel for further attention and resolution.
Execute any additional responsibilities delegated by the ICT supervisor as required.
Seeking a candidate with a minimum of three years of relevant work experience in the specified field, complemented by a bachelor’s degree in a related discipline. Proficiency in industry-standard software and tools is essential, along with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, are required to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams. Candidates must demonstrate a track record of meeting deadlines and managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Prior leadership or supervisory experience is preferred but not mandatory.
Candidates must currently be enrolled in or have recently finished a degree program in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a closely related discipline.
Proficiency in Unix and Windows-based applications, along with a solid understanding of fundamental networking principles, is required.
Proficient in networking infrastructure, PC hardware and software maintenance, Microsoft Windows Server administration, Microsoft Active Directory management, desktop operating systems, as well as Cisco routing, switching, and voice technology solutions.
Demonstrates exceptional interpersonal and communication abilities with a proven capacity to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
Demonstrates a proactive approach to acquiring new skills and adjusting seamlessly to emerging technological advancements.
