Proactively identify, investigate, and escalate any instances of fraudulent behavior or criminal conduct to ensure the integrity and security of organizational operations.
Collaborate closely with the Nurse in charge to ensure comprehensive execution of internal audit recommendations and achieve favorable outcomes in follow-up audits.
To ensure compliance with all established systems, policies, and procedures as detailed in the Hospital Manual—particularly those governing the delivery of medical services, such as admission and discharge protocols, nurse documentation, ward equipment and supply management, and emergency response guidelines—you must thoroughly read, comprehend, and remain proficient in their application.
Document all sentinel incidents and events, ensuring timely reporting within a 24-hour timeframe through the designated tools.
Maintain and uphold infection control standards as outlined in the hospital’s official manual while adhering to all relevant infection control bundles, including SSI, VAP, CACTI, and CLA BSI protocols, where applicable.
Oversee patient attendants in alignment with their established job responsibilities.
Engage actively in ward rounds and obtain handover reports from the departing nurse at the end of each shift.
Evaluate the patient’s advance care preferences and communicate these directives to their closest family members or legal representatives.
The safeguarding and accurate documentation of patients’ personal belongings must be meticulously maintained.

The emergency trolley must be systematically arranged for efficient use during resuscitation efforts, ensuring all necessary drugs and supplies are fully stocked. Any damaged equipment must be promptly removed and reported. Additionally, a comprehensive checklist should be maintained and updated on the 1st and 16th of each month, as well as whenever modifications are required.
Ensure physicians and consultants are promptly informed of any patient updates and critical values as soon as they become accessible.

Administering medications as prescribed by healthcare providers is a critical responsibility, ensuring patients receive the correct dosage at the appropriate times. This includes verifying prescriptions, preparing and distributing medications, monitoring patient responses, and documenting all administration details in medical records. Proficiency in pharmaceutical knowledge, strict adherence to safety protocols, and meticulous attention to detail are essential to prevent errors and ensure optimal therapeutic outcomes. Collaboration with nursing staff and other healthcare professionals is often required to coordinate care effectively.
Ensure strict compliance with the 10 rights of medication administration, including verifying the correct patient, medication, dosage, route, and timing, while maintaining thorough documentation, educating the client, conducting necessary assessments, evaluating outcomes, and respecting the client’s right to refuse treatment.
Promptly submit all new medication orders to the pharmacy and administer STAT doses within a 30-minute timeframe.
Ensure the secure storage of D.D.A. drugs and maintain accurate, up-to-date records in compliance with unit-specific protocols.
All unused medications must be reimbursed promptly and in full.
All verbal prescriptions must be countersigned by the attending physician within 24 hours, in accordance with hospital policy.
Demonstrates adherence to the Nursing Council of Kenya’s established professional standards in delivering patient care and treatment.
Ensure exceptional satisfaction among clients, including patients, consultants, and other stakeholders by delivering high-quality care, maintaining clear and proactive communication, providing timely responses, and escalating unresolved concerns to the Unit Manager for resolution and continuous improvement.

Person Specification
A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or equivalent nursing diploma is required.
A Higher Diploma in Neonatal or Pediatric Critical Care Nursing (NICU/PICK) is an essential qualification for this role.
A current and valid license issued by the Nursing Council of Kenya is required.
Maintaining current certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) or Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLAS) is required.
A minimum of two years of professional experience in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) or Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICK) setting is required.
Proven ability to foster strong interpersonal relationships, convey information effectively, and maintain meticulous attention to detail while consistently delivering measurable outcomes under demanding conditions. Demonstrated dependability in fulfilling commitments and maintaining high standards of professionalism.
