THE OPPORTUNITY

The Railway Coordinator oversees the procurement and scheduling of rail wagons in partnership with Kenya Railways Corporation, guaranteeing punctual availability for efficient loading and shunting operations while ensuring customer deliveries are made on schedule.

The role encompasses resolving cargo discrepancies, such as damaged or broken bags, while collaborating closely with internal and external stakeholders to mitigate delays. Additionally, it requires meticulous record-keeping to uphold the efficiency and dependability of rail logistics operations.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

To ensure timely and efficient loading schedules and customer delivery requirements are met, plan and secure rail wagons in collaboration with Kenya Railways Corporation.

Coordinate the timely positioning of empty wagons, oversee loading operations, and manage the shunting of loaded wagons to ensure efficient dispatch.

Develop and oversee schedules for wagon movements, while proactively identifying and escalating any delays or bottlenecks to ensure seamless operations.

Work collaboratively with rail yard teams, customers, and internal stakeholders to maintain seamless loading and dispatch operations.

Ensure the precise verification of cargo quantities and the accuracy of all shipping documentation and waybills before any dispatch occurs.

Your responsibilities include overseeing shipments from dispatch to final delivery, verifying proof of delivery, and addressing any discrepancies or exceptions that may arise.

Investigate instances of damaged or lost cargo, such as broken bags, to ascertain underlying causes and facilitate the resolution of claims while implementing corrective measures.

Accurate and timely record maintenance is essential, requiring meticulous management of wagon allocations, movement logs, manifests, and reconciliation reports to ensure comprehensive documentation.

Maintain complete adherence to rail operational protocols, safety regulations, and organizational policies.

Analyze operational performance metrics—such as turnaround times, delays, and losses—then develop and propose strategic recommendations to optimize efficiency and minimize expenditures.

Investigate incidents and lead ongoing enhancement efforts throughout rail operations to ensure sustained progress and operational excellence.

Perform routine site inspections at rail yards, loading facilities, and customer premises to oversee operational activities and address any arising challenges.

Seeking a candidate with a proven track record of academic excellence and practical experience in the field, accompanied by a strong set of relevant skills.
