The County Solicitor serves as the primary legal advisor to the County Attorney, overseeing the operational and strategic functions of the County Attorney’s office. Kenyan citizenship is a prerequisite for this position.

A recognized university must confer a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree upon the candidate.

To qualify, applicants must have served as an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya for a minimum of five years following admission, while holding a valid practicing certificate. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate a strong understanding of relevant laws and adherence to professional standards.

A Master’s degree in Law, complemented by a Senior Management Certificate from the Kenya School of Government, would be advantageous.

The County Solicitor will serve as the primary legal advisor to the County Attorney, supporting the effective execution of the County Attorney’s office responsibilities.

The role involves providing support to the County Attorney by overseeing, aligning, and directing the administrative and legal operations of the Office.

Oversee or delegate and manage all casework, encompassing appeals and petitions, in coordination with the County Attorney.

The County Solicitor will develop and implement legal service strategies for the County Government in collaboration with the County Attorney, ensuring alignment with the functions and powers of the office.

The County Attorney’s office requires assistance in preparing and publishing legislative proposals on behalf of the County Government.

To revise County laws as needed, in accordance with the guidance provided by the County Attorney.

Execute the Accounting Officer responsibilities within the County Attorney’s office, in collaboration with the County Attorney, ensuring alignment with established policies and procedures.

To oversee and manage the training and professional development of staff members and interns undergoing pupillage within the County Attorney’s office.
