Job Summary
Pearl Hospital, a Level 4 multi-specialty facility located in Lavinia County, is seeking an Optical Technician to support the delivery of high-quality optical services. In this role, you will dispense optical products, fit and repair eyewear, perform basic optical measurements, and maintain exceptional customer care standards for patients. Oversee and execute critical duties including the development and implementation of strategic plans, the management of cross-functional teams, and the oversight of daily operations to ensure alignment with organizational objectives. Duties encompass conducting thorough market research to identify growth opportunities, fostering innovation through process improvements, and maintaining robust stakeholder relationships to enhance collaboration. Additionally, the role involves monitoring performance metrics, preparing detailed reports for senior leadership, and ensuring compliance with industry regulations and company policies.
Interpret and fulfill prescriptions provided by Optometrists or Ophthalmologists, ensuring accurate and timely dispensing of medications as directed.
Provide guidance to patients in choosing suitable eyeglass frames, lenses, and optical enhancements.
Accurately record essential measurements such as pupillary distance (PD), segment height, and frame fitting specifications to ensure precise optical alignment and customer satisfaction.
Fit, adjust, repair, and maintain a wide range of spectacles and other optical devices to ensure optimal functionality and customer satisfaction.
Responsible for accurately documenting and managing inventory records for frames, lenses, contact lenses, and optical supplies.
Responsibilities include thoroughly inspecting and verifying optical orders to ensure accuracy prior to dispensing.
Verify that all optical equipment and tools are kept in pristine condition, fully operational, and meticulously maintained.
Ensure meticulous documentation of patient data and medication dispensing in strict compliance with hospital protocols and regulatory standards.
Oversee the stock-taking and procurement operations for optical supplies, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in managing inventory levels.
Consistently comply with Infection Prevention and Control protocols while ensuring a consistently sanitized work environment.
Contribute to quality enhancement initiatives within the optical department by actively engaging in process improvements and adherence to established standards.
Minimum qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, such as business administration, finance, or accounting, along with at least three years of professional experience in a related role. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are essential, as is proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel. Exceptional communication and organizational abilities are also required to effectively collaborate with teams and stakeholders. Additionally, candidates must demonstrate a keen attention to detail and the capacity to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
A recognized institution must have awarded a Diploma or Certificate in Optical Technology or Optician.
Professional registration with the appropriate governing body, where applicable, is required.
A minimum of one to two years of practical experience within an optical clinic, hospital environment, or eyewear retail establishment is highly beneficial.
Proficiency in optical lenses, frames, contact lenses, and dispensing protocols is required.
