Our Client is in need of a meticulous, proactive Junior Accounts Assistant to join the Finance and Operations Department, emphasizing strong organizational skills and keen attention to detail.

The ideal candidate will oversee the maintenance of precise financial records, facilitate inventory accounting procedures, aid in payroll management, conduct reconciliations, and uphold seamless daily accounting functions.

Key Responsibilities

Ensure precise daily recording and management of accounting records and financial transactions.

Responsibilities include managing and documenting accounts payable and receivable transactions with precision and efficiency.

Compile and input journal entries into the accounting software platform.

Oversee and revise general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.

Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports in accordance with established accounting standards and company protocols.

Assist in assembling management accounts and compiling financial statements to ensure accuracy and compliance with established standards.

Maintain accurate filing and documentation of financial records in accordance with established procedures and regulatory standards.

Support the preparation of statutory returns and tax-related documentation as required by regulatory bodies.

Ensure adherence to Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) regulations as well as other pertinent legal and industry standards.

Ensure meticulous documentation and up-to-date record-keeping to meet audit and regulatory compliance standards.

Conduct comprehensive reconciliations of bank accounts and vendor statements to ensure financial accuracy and alignment with transactional records.

Thoroughly examine financial records to identify and rectify any inconsistencies or discrepancies.

Support the establishment and adherence to internal financial controls and procedural frameworks.

Facilitate the preparation of payroll, perform salary calculations, manage deductions, and oversee benefits administration.

Maintain payroll records with the utmost accuracy and confidentiality.

Track inventory transactions and oversee stock movements to ensure accurate record-keeping and efficient management of goods.

Cross-check physical inventory counts with system records to ensure accuracy and identify discrepancies.

Conduct inventory audits and analyze discrepancies through thorough investigations to identify and resolve variances.

Assist with the computation of Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) to ensure accurate financial reporting and inventory valuation.

Collaborate effectively with logistics and operations teams to ensure the precision of inventory records.

Bachelor’s degree in a related field is required, along with a minimum of three years of relevant experience in a comparable role. Proficiency in industry-standard software and tools is essential, along with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Excellent communication and organizational skills are necessary to collaborate effectively in a team environment. Knowledge of regulatory compliance and best practices within the industry is also required. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines consistently. Familiarity with data analysis and reporting is preferred.

A bachelor’s degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related business discipline is required.

Preferred qualifications include a CPA certification, with a preference for candidates who have completed at least CPA Part II.

Seeking candidates with at least one to two years of professional experience in accounting, bookkeeping, inventory management, or finance-related positions.

Proficiency in a retail, wholesale, distribution, e-commerce, or inventory-focused operational setting is strongly preferred.

Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems, including QuickBooks, Odoo, Zoho Books, Sage, or comparable platforms, is required.

Proficient in leveraging Microsoft Excel’s advanced features, such as Pivot Tables, Lookups, and data analysis functions, to effectively process and interpret complex datasets.

Proficiency in retail point-of-sale systems and inventory management software is required.

Proficient in inventory accounting principles and adept at managing stock control procedures.
