Oxfam in Africa seeks a seasoned Strategic Communications Advisor to bolster the Director’s external outreach efforts and magnify Oxfam’s influence throughout Africa and on the global stage.
As a pivotal and high-energy position within Oxfam’s advocacy efforts, you will craft and execute strategic communications initiatives designed to elevate the Director’s public presence. Your responsibilities will include ensuring that their participation in key events—from international summits to media engagements—is both compelling and fully aligned with Oxfam’s strategic objectives.
You will collaborate with the Senior Leadership Team, Media and Communications colleagues, and partners across the confederation to develop and implement strategic plans for high-impact engagements, ensuring seamless alignment between advocacy initiatives, communications efforts, and overarching organizational goals.
This position is accountable to the Oxfam in Africa Director while maintaining a secondary reporting line to the Media and Communications Lead.

We seek a seasoned communications specialist with a proven background in media relations, public outreach, and strategic advocacy. You will demonstrate exceptional writing and editorial proficiency, adept at distilling intricate policy matters into engaging, audience-appropriate narratives for senior stakeholders.
As a highly skilled relationship manager, you excel in cultivating meaningful connections with senior stakeholders spanning governments, international institutions, civil society, and global partners. Adaptable to dynamic, high-stakes environments, you adeptly juggle competing priorities without compromising precision or thoroughness.
You must possess strategic insight to recognize opportunities that amplify Oxfam’s influence and enhance the effectiveness of leadership engagements. Your work should reflect a deep dedication to core values, including social justice, gender equality, and Oxfam’s overarching mission. Proficiency in English and French is mandatory, while additional fluency in Portuguese is highly desirable.
