The ICT Assistant – Network Administration, who reports directly to the Head of ICT, is tasked with evaluating information risks and overseeing the resolution of identified vulnerabilities related to IT security and risks throughout Kenya Tea Packers. This role collaborates closely with the Database Administrator, Business Intelligence, and Reporting teams to coordinate ICT system support activities. Additionally, the incumbent ensures the establishment of secure network connectivity both within and between Keep offices, while maintaining the integrity and security of the company’s systems.
Oversee and administer daily operations to ensure seamless workflow and adherence to established protocols. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align objectives and drive project execution efficiently. Develop and implement strategic initiatives to enhance productivity, streamline processes, and optimize resource allocation. Prepare and present detailed reports to senior management, highlighting key performance indicators and areas for improvement. Conduct regular assessments to identify inefficiencies and recommend data-driven solutions for continuous enhancement. Maintain compliance with organizational policies, industry regulations, and quality standards while fostering a culture of accountability and excellence.
Evaluates key performance indicators—availability, utilization, throughput, and latency—to ensure peak network performance. Additionally, oversees the strategic selection, installation, configuration, and testing of ICT equipment to uphold system reliability and efficiency.
Monitor and address all incoming communications while troubleshooting networking issues to ensure seamless operation of IT networks, systems, and software applications. Implement and enforce proactive measures to prevent disruptions and maintain optimal performance across the infrastructure.
Present detailed findings and actionable recommendations regarding identified vulnerabilities to the Head of ICT to facilitate prompt corrective measures.
Conduct comprehensive vulnerability assessments utilizing advanced IT security tools and established methodologies to identify and document any security or risk exposures present across the IT network, systems, and software applications.
Designs network specifications by collaborating with users, evaluating workflow, access, information, and security requirements, and developing router administration, which encompasses interface configuration and routing protocols.
Maintains optimal network performance through continuous monitoring and analysis, along with performance tuning; identifies and resolves network issues; escalates unresolved problems to vendors as necessary.
Develops and implements measures to safeguard the network by establishing secure access protocols, continuously monitoring system activity, enforcing control policies, and assessing vulnerabilities, while ensuring all documentation remains current and accurate.
Conducting regular assessments of firewall rules, configurations, and logs in collaboration with the Head of Enhanced Cyber Defense and Security to establish and refine access privileges, control frameworks, and resource allocations.
Support the ICT Manager by evaluating and proposing enhancements to critical ICT policies, including the Disaster Recovery Plan, the Company’s Technology Infrastructure and Systems strategy, and the Business Continuity Plan Standard Operating Procedures.
Maintain and update the ICT support helpdesk system while ensuring prompt, reliable, and uninterrupted assistance is provided to all users of the information and telecommunications network.
Offer foundational training and technical assistance to users regarding network access and software application utilization, while collaborating with the ICT Manager to ensure accurate documentation of all information systems.
Collaborate with vendor support representatives to assess and revise SLAs, addressing technical issues related to end-user hardware, software, MPLS/SD-WAN, and internet connectivity.
To maintain compliance and security standards, verify that all PCs, laptops, and servers within the domain and network operate with licensed and up-to-date operating systems, as well as updated endpoint security software.
Ensure seamless interconnection of all computers with a variety of systems, such as validation systems, file servers, email servers, application servers, and administrative systems.
Collaborate with the Head of ICT to develop the annual ICT training capital expenditure (CAPEX) and operational expenditure (OPEX) budgets.
Execute any additional responsibilities as directed by the Systems Administrator or the Head of ICT.
