Job Summary

Pearl Hospital, a Level 4 multi-specialty facility in Lavinia County, is currently seeking a Community Oral and Health Officer. The role also involves promoting proper dental hygiene practices and contributing to holistic patient care.

Oversee and execute critical duties that encompass a range of essential functions, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and standards. Handle core tasks with precision and accountability, including managing key processes, maintaining compliance with established protocols, and driving operational efficiency across assigned responsibilities. Facilitate cross-functional collaboration to address challenges, optimize workflows, and support overarching business objectives through strategic planning and proactive problem-solving.

Perform comprehensive oral examinations to evaluate patients’ dental health and identify any conditions or concerns requiring attention.

Proactively identify and treat prevalent oral and dental conditions.

Conduct both preventive and corrective treatments to maintain optimal patient health and address existing conditions.

Deliver comprehensive oral health education and counselling sessions to patients as well as community groups.

Engage actively in community outreach initiatives and educational programs focused on promoting dental health awareness.

Maintain adherence to infection prevention and control protocols within the dental unit.

Compile and organize reports as mandated, ensuring all documentation remains current, accurate, and in compliance with established standards.

Ensure adherence to all regulatory standards set forth by the Ministry of Health and the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC).

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent practical experience is required. Proficiency in specific software or tools pertinent to the role is essential. Candidates must demonstrate at least three years of hands-on experience in a comparable position. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are a necessity. Excellent communication abilities, both written and verbal, are critical for success in this position. Familiarity with industry standards and best practices is highly advantageous.

Holders of a degree or diploma in Community Oral Health from an accredited institution are required.

A current, active practicing license and registration from the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council is required.

A minimum of one to two years of hands-on clinical experience in a high-volume dental practice is strongly preferred.

Basic life Support (BLS) certification is an added advantage.

Proficient communication and strong interpersonal abilities are essential.

Proficiency in fundamental computer operations and experience with electronic medical records (EMR) systems are advantageous.

Proficient in managing and overseeing diverse projects, ensuring they are completed on schedule and within budget. Strong analytical skills are essential to evaluate complex data and make informed decisions. Excellent interpersonal abilities are required to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders, fostering a cooperative and productive work environment. Proficiency in relevant software and tools is expected to streamline processes and enhance productivity. Additionally, a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to adapt to changing priorities are crucial for success in this role.

Proven expertise in clinical assessment and diagnostic evaluation is essential for this role.
