Our client, a prominent telecommunications provider, is currently seeking a Sectional IP Network Engineer to join their team.

Job summary/ Job purpose/ Role Intent:

The Sectional IP Network Engineer–Field will deliver MAN network availability and customer uptime KPIs via on-site maintenance of power-related components for designated MAN nodes, maintaining service quality and continuity in accordance with corporate KPIs and within allocated budgetary constraints. Additionally, the role entails conducting Feasibility & Implementation assessments, as well as executing billing-related disconnections and reconnections of ISDN and PSTN circuits at the MAN level.

Ensure continuous MAN availability by proactively maintaining the power supply of the nodes.

Proactively oversee and resolve MAN & Switch power-related issues in a timely manner, ensuring adherence to established SLAs for fault management.

Key updates are facilitated throughout the restoration process to keep the customer fully informed.

Execute feasibility studies, implement, and manage the disconnection and reconnection of ISDN and PSTN circuits.

Prepare comprehensive documentation detailing customer onboarding processes, ensuring clarity and completeness to facilitate smooth implementation and integration.

Uphold a secure work environment by strictly adhering to HSE protocols, established engineering standards, procedural guidelines, and applicable legal regulations.

Monitor individual performance metrics and provide strategic recommendations to enhance productivity and effectiveness.

Oversee and maintain a detailed record of network expenditures while ensuring alignment with financial planning and analysis standards.

Performs all duties assigned or delegated by the line manager as required.

Principal Outputs for this role

Adhere to the predetermined monthly fuel allocation to ensure efficient resource management.

Compile and submit Street MAN power meter readings to the finance department on or before the 20th day of each month.

Nairobi Means achieved an exceptional average availability of 99.65% throughout the year.

To ensure operational excellence, at least 90% of Nairobi-based Means must consistently meet Power-related performance targets.

Ninety percent of Nairobi’s Means demonstrate a Power rating exceeding ninety percent, showcasing exceptional performance in this critical area.

Within 2 hours following the settlement of invoices, no less than 80% of disconnected lines must be restored.

Customer Service Level Agreement (SLA) compliance requires that 80% of all assigned provisioning and cessation cases be resolved within a 24-hour timeframe.

To ensure operational efficiency, the incumbent must resolve 80% of reported faults within a four-hour timeframe, maintaining high standards of service delivery and system reliability.

Carry out routine maintenance on all the MSAN nodes on quarterly basis and provide power autonomy status and recommendation for each node.

Ensure all assigned Feasibility tickets are resolved within a 24-hour timeframe.

Experience

We seek candidates with three to five years of experience in the telecommunications sector, specifically within the Welkom industry.

Technical Competencies

Requires demonstrated expertise in the practical installation and upkeep of power equipment.

Proficiency in SIP technology and hands-on experience collaborating with SIP service providers are required.

Must have routing and switching experience with hands on proficiency in configuring Multivendor Routers and Switches.

Cisco qualifications or other IP Network certifications are required.
