About Ramco Group

Founded in the late 1940s by Mr. Cambrai, who relocated to Kenya from Gujarat, India, the Rambo Group began as a modest hardware store in Nairobi’s central business district. By the early 1950s, his three sons—Kirin, Mahendra, and Chandrakant—joined the business following their education, reinforcing the enterprise with deep familial bonds that laid the groundwork for its future expansion.

Initially, the Group concentrated on the hardware and building supplies sector, leveraging the family’s expertise in the field. In 1986, the brothers strategically diversified their portfolio by acquiring ASL Steel, a stainless steel manufacturer, and Polythene Industries, a plastics producer. These pivotal acquisitions broadened their industry presence, prompting further investments in adjacent sectors. In 1995, the Group expanded into office supplies by acquiring SAI Office Supplies, followed by strategic ventures into retail distribution.

Today, Kirin and Chandrakant remain integral to the Group’s operations, upholding a customer-centric approach that continues to define every subsidiary under the Rambo umbrella.
