Our client, a rapidly expanding mid-sized freight forwarding firm based in Nairobi, excels in handling air and sea cargo from prominent global logistics centers, including Dubai, Guangzhou, London, Milan, Johannesburg, Istanbul, and Amsterdam. They facilitate the transportation of 80 to 100 tonnes of air freight monthly—comprising both commercial and personal items—as well as one 40ft container on a daily basis. Their comprehensive services ensure full transparency throughout the entire process, from warehouse receipt and inventory management to seamless customs clearance and final-mile delivery.

The company is in search of a visionary and seasoned Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to assume full operational leadership, enhance and systematize their operational frameworks, and propel the organization into its next phase of sustainable expansion.

Oversee and manage the core functions and deliverables associated with this position, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and strategic priorities. Serve as the primary point of accountability for executing assigned duties, which encompass a broad spectrum of operational, analytical, or project-based responsibilities. Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to drive efficiency, foster innovation, and uphold high performance standards across all initiatives. Monitor progress, assess outcomes, and provide actionable insights to stakeholders to facilitate informed decision-making and continuous improvement. Demonstrate leadership in problem-solving, resource allocation, and process optimization to meet or exceed established benchmarks and targets. Actively contribute to the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and best practices that enhance productivity, compliance, and overall operational excellence.

Oversee all seven departments, including sales, customer service, transport, marketing, call center, warehouse, and operations.

Achieve a 20% to 30% increase in revenue year-over-year while simultaneously enhancing profit margins.

Deliver exceptional client service by expediting resolutions for delays, breakages, and claims to ensure prompt and satisfactory outcomes.

You will be responsible for managing air freight operations, sea container logistics, warehousing solutions, transportation networks, and customs clearance processes to ensure seamless supply chain execution.

Develop and nurture robust international collaborations while integrating advanced technologies to enhance monitoring capabilities and operational efficiency.

Educational Background and Professional Experience:

Applicants must possess the required academic credentials and relevant work history to fulfill the role effectively. A degree in a related field or equivalent professional experience is essential, along with a proven track record in the industry. Candidates should demonstrate expertise through formal education, hands-on training, or extensive professional practice. Years of experience in a comparable position or industry will be considered, ensuring alignment with the role’s demands and expectations.

Seeking a professional with a decade to fifteen years of expertise in logistics and freight forwarding, specializing in air freight and containerized sea freight.

A minimum of five years of executive leadership experience is required, encompassing roles such as General Manager, Director, or Chief Executive Officer, each involving direct profit-and-loss accountability.

Demonstrates an established history of delivering exceptional client service and enhancing operational efficiency within logistics environments.

Proficiency in the regulatory framework governing Kenya and East Africa, including the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), Kenya Ports Authority (PA), and Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEYS), is essential.

A bachelor’s degree in business, logistics, or a related discipline is required; possessing an MBA or certifications such as CULT or FIAT would further strengthen your candidacy.
