THE OPPORTUNITY
The Lead, Entrepreneurship will facilitate the execution of entrepreneurship-focused initiatives in Kenya, collaborating closely with the Head, Entrepreneurship. This position will leverage advanced technical knowledge in entrepreneurship to guide, oversee, and refine the Foundation’s programmatic efforts, ensuring they remain aligned with the Foundation’s strategic objectives and the distinct landscape of Kenya. Additionally, the role will foster partnerships that enable meaningful and rewarding employment opportunities for young people while advancing innovations to bolster the entrepreneurial ecosystem.

Provide technical expertise to inform the formulation of the national strategy by analyzing entrepreneurship and employment frameworks.
Oversee designated initiatives in entrepreneurship and financial inclusion, with an emphasis on rural and agricultural finance programs.
Collaborate in tailoring and executing program strategies to align with the specific conditions of the country, thereby guaranteeing alignment with local requirements and capitalizing on available opportunities.
Partner with implementation partners to facilitate the successful execution of program activities and contribute specialized expertise as needed.
To foster and enhance partnerships with key organizations and stakeholders, ensuring the alignment of mutual goals for achieving successful program outcomes.
Drive the conception and implementation of strategic initiatives aimed at fostering innovation and scaling entrepreneurship.
Facilitate organizational growth and knowledge dissemination by compiling lessons learned, recording success stories, and engaging in internal evaluations.
To foster a deeper understanding of youth employment challenges and opportunities across Africa, collaborate with both internal teams and external stakeholders to disseminate valuable insights and key learnings, thereby strengthening our thought leadership initiatives in this critical area.
Engage in thorough due diligence and evaluation procedures for prospective programs and partnership opportunities.
Evaluate program effectiveness by systematically tracking and analyzing key performance indicators and milestones to assess progress toward defined outcomes.
Ensure that programs are consistently aligned with the Foundation’s core values, guiding principles, and country-specific strategic objectives.
Facilitate the organization and operation of internal working groups while fostering cross-functional collaboration centered on entrepreneurship initiatives.
Develop and maintain a deep understanding of entrepreneurship and the related ecosystem through ongoing learning and engagement activities.
WHO YOU ARE
A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance or Business—or equivalent professional experience—is required for this role.
A proven track record of at least a decade in operations within microfinance institutions, banks, or investment firms actively engaged in Africa’s SME financing sector—particularly in Kenya—alongside five years in a managerial capacity is essential.
Proven expertise in Kenya’s diverse entrepreneurship ecosystem, encompassing rural enterprises, agricultural ventures, and the informal market.
Proven track record in collaborating with or overseeing implementation partners, ensuring alignment with project objectives and deliverables.
Proven expertise in systems change methodologies and a commitment to continuous learning and adaptability.
Strong analytical capabilities, strategic thinking, and the capacity to serve as a valued thought partner in the Foundation’s strategy formulation process are essential.
Proven expertise in budget management, coupled with a strong capacity to oversee a substantial portfolio of assets.
Proficient in both quantitative and qualitative business analytics methodologies.
Proven ability to convey complex information clearly and persuasively through both spoken and written communication, tailored to diverse audiences and cultural backgrounds.
Experienced in managing projects effectively, with a proven ability to oversee initiatives involving multiple stakeholders.
A strong understanding of digital inclusion policy is highly advantageous.
