The Senior Communications Officer, Campaigns, at the Africa Regional Office (ARE), will be responsible for designing and executing integrated, audience-focused communications campaigns that support the foundation’s strategic objectives throughout Africa.

The successful candidate will oversee comprehensive campaign planning and implementation to enhance the foundation’s brand credibility and advocacy for key priorities. In a collaborative, matrixed environment, this individual will collaborate seamlessly with teams across the Advocacy & Research Office, Communications Division, and Global Policy & Advocacy to ensure campaigns are informed by data, culturally relevant, and strategically cohesive at a global level. The position demands the capacity to guide cross-functional teams in the absence of direct oversight, leveraging influence to unite stakeholders around a unified campaign strategy.

This position will focus on crafting and executing audience-first campaign strategies and plans, developing comprehensive creative and content briefs, designing audience journeys, and optimizing distribution channels to maximize reach. The successful candidate will collaborate extensively with advocacy leads, country communication leads, and teams specializing in content, channels, and media to maintain strategic alignment throughout execution. Furthermore, you will work alongside the Measurement and Insights team to establish key performance indicators, facilitate message and creative testing, and analyze data to derive actionable insights that enhance campaign effectiveness.

The role will be situated in Nairobi, Kenya, and will involve reporting to the Deputy Director of Content, Campaigns, and Digital for Africa.

What You’ll Do

Develop strategic campaign plans and integrated marketing initiatives, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives and target audience insights. Collaborate across departments to harmonize messaging, channels, and timelines for maximum impact. Analyze performance metrics to refine strategies, allocate resources efficiently, and optimize return on investment. Lead cross-functional teams to execute cohesive campaigns that drive brand awareness, engagement, and conversion. Stay abreast of industry trends and competitive landscape to inform innovative approaches and maintain a competitive edge.

Develop and execute cohesive campaign strategies that are fully aligned with ARE priorities, ensuring each initiative has a defined audience, compelling narrative, and measurable objectives.

Translate findings from audience research and monitoring into strategic, data-driven campaign initiatives that effectively engage target demographics and drive measurable outcomes.

Craft cohesive strategies for channels, content, and engagement initiatives across owned, earned, and paid media in collaboration with key stakeholders.

Craft strategic campaign briefs and robust planning frameworks to ensure cohesive execution across all departments.

Develop and oversee budgets at the campaign level to ensure financial efficiency and alignment with strategic goals.

Your Experience

A bachelor’s or master’s degree in communications, marketing, or a related discipline is required.

With at least eight to ten years of high-level expertise, you will have led and crafted integrated communications or marketing campaigns across global, regional, or multi-country settings—preferably in fast-paced, dynamic environments such as agencies or in-house roles.

Exceptional skill in converting audience insights into strategic, results-driven campaigns and actionable plans is essential.

Demonstrates a strong track record in seamlessly blending paid, owned, and earned media channels to execute comprehensive campaigns.

Proficiency in digital, social, and media ecosystems spanning diverse African markets is essential.
