The Senior Communications Officer, Campaigns, within the Africa Regional Office (ARE), will spearhead the conception and implementation of cohesive, audience-centric communications campaigns designed to elevate the foundation’s strategic objectives throughout the African continent.

The successful candidate will spearhead comprehensive campaign planning and execution to enhance trust in the foundation’s brand and advance priority issues. In a matrixed organizational structure, you will collaborate extensively with teams across the ARE, Communications Division, and Global Policy & Advocacy (GPA) to guarantee campaigns are driven by insights, grounded in local contexts, and aligned with global objectives. This position demands the capacity to lead cross-functional teams without formal authority, leveraging influence to unify stakeholders around a cohesive campaign vision.

The position requires crafting audience-centric campaign strategies and detailed implementation plans, designing insightful creative and content briefs, mapping out audience pathways, and optimizing distribution channels to maximize engagement, followed by thorough post-campaign assessments. Collaboration with cross-functional teams—including advocacy, country communication, content, channel, and media specialists—will be essential to synchronize strategic direction with tactical execution. Furthermore, you will collaborate with the Measurement and Insights team to establish measurable KPIs, facilitate message and creative evaluations, and derive actionable insights to enhance overall campaign effectiveness.

The role will be stationed in Nairobi, Kenya, and will fall under the supervision of the Deputy Director overseeing Content, Campaigns, and Digital initiatives for the Africa region.

What You’ll Do

Develop comprehensive campaign strategies and integrated planning initiatives to align with organizational objectives and drive impactful results.

Drive the creation of cohesive campaign strategies aligned with ARE priorities, ensuring precise audience targeting, compelling narratives, and measurable objectives.

Translate insights, research, and ongoing monitoring of audience behavior into strategic, data-driven campaign initiatives that drive measurable results.

Develop comprehensive channel, content, and engagement strategies across owned, earned, and paid media channels in close collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Craft comprehensive campaign briefs and strategic planning frameworks to facilitate seamless collaboration and execution across various departments.

Develop and oversee budgets at the campaign level.

Play a pivotal role in developing ARE’s overarching communications and campaign framework, encompassing strategic planning processes and operational cadences.

The campaign will be implemented with strategic precision, ensuring all promotional activities are executed flawlessly to maximize engagement and conversion rates. Your Experience

A bachelor’s or master’s degree in communications, marketing, or an allied discipline is required.

Seeking a candidate with 8 to 10 years of senior-level expertise in developing and overseeing integrated communications or marketing campaigns across global, regional, or multi-country settings, preferably within fast-paced and dynamic environments such as agencies or in-house teams.

Proven skill in converting audience insights into effective, executable strategies and campaigns.

Demonstrates a track record of effectively combining paid, owned, and earned media channels to execute cohesive campaigns.

Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of digital, social, and media landscapes across diverse markets in Africa.
