The Senior Communications Officer, Campaigns, within the Africa Regional Office (ARE), will spearhead the design and execution of cohesive, audience-centric communications campaigns that support the foundation’s strategic objectives across the African continent.

The incumbent will oversee comprehensive campaign planning and implementation to enhance the foundation’s brand credibility and commitment to key initiatives. In a matrix-based structure, you will collaborate extensively with teams across the ARE, Communications Division, and Global Policy & Advocacy (GPA) to guarantee campaigns are informed by insights, grounded in local contexts, and aligned with global strategies. This position demands the capacity to lead multidisciplinary teams without formal authority, leveraging influence to unify stakeholders around a unified campaign direction.

This position requires designing and implementing campaign strategies centered on audience needs, crafting detailed creative and content briefs, mapping audience journeys, and optimizing distribution channels to maximize reach. The successful candidate will collaborate extensively with cross-functional teams—such as advocacy leads, country communications leads, content creators, channel specialists, and media planners—to ensure cohesive alignment between strategic objectives and tactical execution. Furthermore, you will collaborate with the Measurement and Insights team to establish key performance indicators, facilitate message and creative testing, and derive actionable insights to enhance and refine campaign effectiveness.

The role will be stationed in Nairobi, Kenya, and will fall under the supervision of the Deputy Director of Content, Campaigns, and Digital for the Africa region.

Develop integrated campaign strategies in alignment with ARE priorities, ensuring a clear focus on the target audience, cohesive narrative, and well-defined objectives.

Derive actionable campaign strategies by interpreting audience insights, research findings, and ongoing monitoring efforts.

Craft collaborative strategies for channel selection, content development, and audience engagement across owned, earned, and paid media platforms in coordination with cross-functional teams.

Craft strategic campaign briefs and structured planning frameworks to facilitate seamless cross-functional collaboration and execution.

Develop and oversee campaign-level financial planning and budget administration.

Play a key role in developing ARE’s comprehensive communications and campaign framework, encompassing strategic planning processes and consistent operational rhythms.

Executes comprehensive campaign strategies, overseeing all phases from initial planning to final delivery to ensure alignment with organizational objectives. Manages cross-functional teams, including creative, digital, and analytics, to develop and implement integrated marketing initiatives. Analyzes performance data to assess campaign effectiveness, identifying key insights and optimization opportunities. Collaborates with stakeholders to define target audiences, refine messaging, and allocate budgets efficiently. Your Experience

A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in communications, marketing, or an equivalent discipline is required.

With 8–10 years of senior-level expertise, you will have spearheaded integrated communications or marketing campaigns in global, regional, or multi-country settings, preferably within fast-paced and dynamic environments such as agencies or in-house teams.

Demonstrates a high proficiency in converting audience insights into clear, actionable strategies and campaigns.

Demonstrates expertise in seamlessly combining paid, owned, and earned media channels to drive cohesive campaign performance.

Proficient in navigating the digital, social, and media ecosystems spanning diverse markets throughout Africa.

Proven ability to collaborate effectively and influence stakeholders across matrixed organizational structures.

You possess strong written and verbal communication skills, adept at distilling intricate concepts into clear, accessible insights for varied audiences.

Proficiency in collaborating with external partners, agencies, and stakeholders is essential.
