We are in search of a detail-oriented and analytical Accountant to manage the complete financial operations of CIS Kenya’s accounting department. Your responsibilities will include maintaining precise bookkeeping records, ensuring adherence to regulatory and statutory requirements, facilitating prompt reporting, and demonstrating responsible stewardship of organizational assets. Additionally, you will offer strategic financial guidance to our Governing Council and the Finance & Audit Committee.
Oversee a range of critical duties, including managing project timelines, coordinating team efforts, and ensuring adherence to established protocols. Develop and implement strategies to enhance operational efficiency while maintaining high standards of quality and compliance. Serve as a liaison between departments to facilitate seamless communication and collaboration. Monitor progress through regular assessments, providing timely feedback and corrective actions as needed. Ensure all initiatives align with organizational goals and regulatory requirements.
Financial Management and Bookkeeping: Oversee daily casebook operations, perform monthly bank reconciliations for payables and receivables, and maintain donor funding accounts utilizing QuickBooks.
Prepare quarterly expenditure reports, strategic cash flow status statements, and in-depth budget comparisons to ensure accurate financial reporting and budgeting.
Ensure precise preparation and submission of PAYE, VAT, NSF, NAIF, and Withholding Tax (WHT) returns through the KRA online and ETFMS platforms.
Ensure the organization maintains audit readiness for year-end assessments, manage the fixed asset register meticulously, and serve as the primary liaison with external auditors to facilitate seamless coordination.
Ensure full compliance with the Kenya Data Protection Act 2019 when handling sensitive financial and stakeholder data.
What We Are Looking For
Holders of a Degree in Accounting or Finance, along with a fully qualified CPA (K) or an ARCA finalist qualification, are required.
A minimum of 10 years of relevant accounting experience is required, along with a strong understanding of Kenyan tax regulations. Prior involvement in an NGO, development finance institution, credit sector organization, or audit firm is particularly advantageous.
Technical Proficiency: Expert-level mastery of Excel and financial reporting, complemented by extensive experience with both QuickBooks Online and Desktop versions.
