Key Result Areas:
Investment Teams spearhead the identification of prospective acquisitions, conduct rigorous due diligence prior to finalizing investments, and manage portfolio assets on an ongoing basis. The Sustainability Manager contributes to the due diligence process and remains actively involved in the management, monitoring, and optimization of the fund manager’s assets. Portfolio investments predominantly encompass core infrastructure projects—including toll roads, airports, ports, renewable energy facilities (such as wind, hydro, and solar), digital and telecoms towers—as well as medium-to-large enterprises operating across the African continent.
You will oversee the following responsibilities:
We serve as the primary liaison for the fund manager while providing strategic guidance on ESG and impact methodologies, ensuring alignment with their core business objectives.
Interpret, advance, and refine as needed the fund manager’s environmental and social management frameworks, ensuring robust governance and continuous enhancement of sustainable practices.
The position involves assisting investment teams in conducting ESG due diligence to assess whether prospective investments align with OMAR ESG requirements, such as UN PRI, Equator Principles, IFC Performance Standards, IFC EHS and Sector Guidelines, ILO standards, and other relevant frameworks.
Offer strategic guidance spanning diverse industries and investment categories to adeptly oversee ESG risks and foster the achievement of meaningful positive outcomes.
Evaluate the sustainability dimensions of projects and provide support to specialists in executing initiatives while ensuring adherence to contractual obligations related to the sustainability criteria of the various funds’ assets.
Assist asset managers by overseeing and guiding assets to ensure adherence to sustainability commitments, which may entail on-site visits and direct engagement with management teams.
Compilation of investor and sustainability reports, alongside addressing ad-hoc investor/shareholder ESG-related inquiries and fostering client engagement, is required.
Sustainability data is collected and processed to generate actionable insights for both internal stakeholders and external partners.
Professionals will be responsible for educating investment teams on sustainability best practices and emerging trends in the field.
Ensure adherence to ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) requirements in accordance with fund mandates and regulatory standards.
Represents OMAR in public forums, engaging in discussions on Sustainability-related subjects.
Represent OMAR in governance forums and committees by actively participating in discussions, providing strategic input, and ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is required. Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or C++ is essential. Experience with software development methodologies and tools, including Agile and Git, is highly preferred. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail are critical for success in this role. Familiarity with databases like SQL and NoSQL is a must. Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams are also necessary.
Candidates should possess relevant academic credentials or practical experience in environmental and/or social sciences.
With a decade or more of hands-on involvement in the field, candidates should bring extensive expertise shaped by over ten years of dedicated professional practice. This experience should reflect deep familiarity with industry standards, methodologies, and evolving trends to ensure alignment with organizational goals and operational needs.
French-speaking candidates must possess a minimum of two years of experience in customer service or a related field. Fluency in French, both written and verbal, is essential, along with strong communication skills. The ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while demonstrating patience and empathy is crucial.
