The Program Officer – School Meals collaborates closely with the Technical Director to oversee the coordination, execution, monitoring, reporting, and resource mobilization for the Global School Meals Program. This position plays a key role in enhancing stakeholder engagement, advancing resource development, and fostering knowledge management to optimize program delivery, expand the portfolio, and elevate visibility.

This position will oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of information systems, reporting mechanisms, and documentation for the School Meals Program. Responsibilities include creating monthly dashboards, quarterly reports, and annual publications, as well as administering the online information platform and ensuring accurate, high-quality documentation for advocacy and communication initiatives.

Developing and implementing strategic plans to enhance operational efficiency and productivity, while ensuring alignment with organizational goals. Collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify process improvements and drive performance metrics. Leading initiatives to optimize resource allocation and streamline workflows. Spearhead the development and implementation of information management systems, reporting frameworks, and documentation processes tailored for the School Meals initiative.

Spearhead the creation of monthly dashboards and quarterly reports, collaborating closely with the information management team.

Collaborate closely with technical, advocacy, and communication teams to produce essential publications, case studies, and capacity statements focused on school meals.

Spearhead the creation and completion of the school meals annual report annually.

Oversee the administration of school meal programs and ensure all required documentation is accurately compiled and submitted.

Oversee the operational aspects of the School Meals online information management system to ensure seamless functionality.

Oversee the development and implementation of learning initiatives and evidence-generation strategies for School Meals programs.

Organize best practices and learning platforms, as well as meetings, to engage technical leads and field offices in discussions centered on key themes related to school meals.

Conduct follow-up activities with field offices to ensure lessons derived from evaluations and learning forums are effectively implemented.

Engage in research initiatives focused on school meals, and share research outcomes with both internal stakeholders and external audiences.

Assist with the planning, development, and execution of the School Meals Program to ensure its smooth and effective operation.

Design and implement cutting-edge programs focused on enhancing student participation in school meal initiatives.

Through the facilitation of donor engagement, led efforts to strengthen and expand school meals programming initiatives.

Offer expert advice to School Officers (SO’s) regarding the appropriate allocation and utilization of Private Non-Sponsorship funding for the execution of school meals programs.

Establish seamless collaboration between field offices and specialized technical staff to facilitate robust support throughout the proposal development process.

Monitor progress on the School Meals initiative and related activities stemming from internal and external discussions, employing tools like activity logs to document developments.

Distribute the school meals guidelines and oversee their execution to ensure adherence.

Assist with organizing and attending critical meetings to ensure effective collaboration and decision-making processes.

Assist in organizing both external and internal meetings pertaining to School Meals initiatives.

Support preparations of presentations for school meals-related meetings

Attend additional meetings as necessary, including those with donors, HEADS, technical staff, and field offices.

Monitor the advancement of the School Meals initiative and related actions stemming from internal and external meetings, utilizing tools like activity logs.

Recordings of meetings are documented and maintained, with corresponding action plans implemented accordingly.

A bachelor’s degree or higher in a related field is required, along with a minimum of three years of relevant professional experience. Candidates should possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as proficiency in industry-standard software and tools. Familiarity with project management methodologies and excellent communication abilities are also essential. Knowledge of regulatory compliance and best practices within the field is highly desirable.

A bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline—such as sociology, international or political studies, humanitarian law, public health, or population studies—is required for this role.
