The role involves gathering, evaluating, and synthesizing existing knowledge on the factors, key influences, and transmission routes of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in Tunisia.

Develop a comprehensive work plan for the consultancy initiative, incorporating a detailed engagement strategy to ensure effective interaction with key stakeholders.

Perform on-site assessments to detect potential contamination from resistant germs in sources including slaughterhouse effluent, swimming pool water, hospital wastewater, river water adjacent to livestock operations, coastal waters at high-traffic beaches, irrigation runoff, poultry litter, ruminant manure, aquaculture systems, and recirculating aquaponics breeding facilities.

Gather and synthesize up-to-date information regarding the contamination and characterization of diverse environmental compartments by antibiotic-resistant microorganisms.

Investigate the origins and dissemination of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) within environmental contexts, with a focus on identifying and delineating sectors at heightened risk.

Provide technical guidance and recommendations to support national antimicrobial resistance (AMR) management initiatives.

A comprehensive diagnostic report will be developed to assess the current status of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in Tunisia’s environment, identifying critical risks, addressing key knowledge deficiencies, and proposing prioritized actionable recommendations.

Conduct a thorough assessment to pinpoint any deficiencies in knowledge or data, then design strategic operational or research initiatives aimed at bridging those gaps. Compile these findings into a concise, actionable roadmap, which will be presented to government authorities following the workshop.

Crafting and distributing tailored communications ensures that compiled knowledge reaches the intended audiences effectively.

Engage in the national workshop by showcasing the pertinent findings derived from the research studies.

Facilitate meaningful discussions throughout the workshop to gather insights for the knowledge and gap analysis.

BA (Sons) degree or equivalent in a related discipline (e.g., Computer Science, Information Technology, or relevant field) along with 3+ years of experience in IT support, technical assistance, or a comparable role. Strong proficiency in troubleshooting hardware and software issues, configuring network systems, and managing user accounts. Familiarity with operating systems such as Windows, macOS, and Linux, as well as virtualization platforms like VMware or Hyper-V. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with end-users and stakeholders at all levels.

An advanced university degree, specifically a master’s or equivalent qualification, in microbiology, environmental health, environmental management, environmental science, or a closely related discipline is mandatory.

Two years of relevant professional experience may substitute for a formal university education qualification.

A minimum of two years of professional experience in environmental policy, public health, or a related discipline is required.

Extensive background in combating antimicrobial resistance, with particular emphasis on environmental factors—including pollution, chemical contaminants, waste streams, and wastewater systems—is essential.

Required is demonstrated expertise in delivering technical and policy assistance within diverse, cross-disciplinary, and cross-sectoral environments across global, regional, and/or national scopes.

Proven ability to collaborate successfully with a broad spectrum of stakeholders—such as governmental bodies, UN entities, the Quadripartite, private sector entities, and international organizations—is highly advantageous.
