Your Role

The Senior Communications Officer for Campaigns at the Africa Regional Office (ARE) will spearhead the creation and execution of cohesive, audience-centric communications campaigns designed to elevate the foundation’s strategic priorities throughout Africa.

The successful candidate will oversee comprehensive campaign planning and implementation to enhance the foundation’s brand credibility and backing for key initiatives. In a collaborative, matrixed structure, you will collaborate extensively with teams across the ARE, Communications Division, and Global Policy & Advocacy (GPA) to develop campaigns that are data-informed, locally relevant, and globally consistent. This position demands strong leadership in guiding cross-functional teams through indirect channels, leveraging influence to unite stakeholders around a unified campaign strategy.

This position entails crafting campaign strategies and plans centered on audience needs, designing creative and content briefs, mapping audience journeys, and optimizing distribution channels to maximize reach. The role also includes overseeing post-campaign assessments. Collaboration with various teams—such as advocacy leads, country communication leads, and content, channel, and media teams—will be essential to ensure strategic alignment and seamless execution. Furthermore, you will collaborate with the Measurement and Insights team to establish key performance indicators, facilitate message and creative testing, and derive actionable insights to enhance overall campaign effectiveness.

The role will be situated in Nairobi, Kenya, and will report directly to the Deputy Director of Content, Campaigns, and Digital for Africa.

What You’ll Do

Develop and execute comprehensive campaign strategies, integrating multichannel planning to maximize impact and achieve marketing objectives. Coordinate cross-functional teams to align messaging, timing, and resource allocation. Analyze market trends, consumer insights, and competitive landscapes to inform strategic decisions. Ensure seamless integration of digital, print, broadcast, and experiential channels while maintaining brand consistency. Monitor performance metrics and optimize campaigns in real-time to drive measurable results. Collaborate with stakeholders to refine objectives, allocate budgets effectively, and identify emerging opportunities for growth.

Develop and execute cohesive campaign strategies that are fully aligned with ARE priorities, ensuring a precise focus on the intended audience, compelling narrative, and well-defined objectives.

Translate audience insights, research findings, and ongoing monitoring into strategic, data-driven campaign plans designed to achieve measurable outcomes.

Develop channel-specific, content, and engagement strategies in collaboration with key stakeholders to optimize performance across owned, earned, and paid media channels.

Craft comprehensive campaign briefs and strategic planning frameworks that ensure cohesive, cross-functional alignment and seamless execution throughout the process.

Develop and oversee budgets at the campaign level to ensure financial efficiency and alignment with strategic objectives.

Assist in developing ARE’s comprehensive communications and campaign framework by participating in strategic planning initiatives and establishing consistent operational cadences.

Your Experience

A bachelor’s or master’s degree in communications, marketing, or a closely related discipline is required.

With a minimum of eight to ten years of high-level expertise, you will have spearheaded the strategic development and leadership of integrated communications or marketing campaigns across global, regional, or multi-country landscapes, preferably within fast-moving and dynamic settings such as agencies or in-house teams.

Proven capability to convert audience insights into well-defined, executable strategies and campaigns.

Demonstrates a strong capacity to seamlessly blend paid, owned, and earned media channels throughout campaign development and implementation.

Proficient in navigating the digital, social, and media landscapes spanning diverse markets across Africa.

Skilled in fostering productive collaboration and driving influence within complex, matrixed organizational structures.

Demonstrates exceptional proficiency in both written and verbal communication, adept at translating intricate concepts into accessible language for varied audiences.

Professionals should possess demonstrated expertise in collaborating with external entities, including partners, agencies, and stakeholders.
