The PR & Communications Associate will facilitate the implementation of Prudential Kenya’s public relations and communications strategy by enhancing media engagement, crafting high-caliber content, advancing internal communication efforts, organizing PR events, and contributing to crisis and reputational risk mitigation.

This position will uphold and strengthen the Prudential brand by delivering uniform, prompt, and regulation-compliant messaging across every internal and external interaction.

Principal Accountabilities:

Provide strategic leadership and direction to the finance team, ensuring alignment with organizational goals. Oversee all accounting operations, including financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting, to maintain accuracy and compliance with regulations. Lead the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP and statutory requirements. Direct the development and implementation of internal controls to safeguard assets and mitigate financial risks. Collaborate with senior management to optimize financial performance and support data-driven decision-making. Manage relationships with external stakeholders, such as auditors, regulators, and financial institutions. Foster a culture of accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement within the finance function. Ensure timely and accurate tax filings and compliance with all applicable tax laws and regulations. Champion process improvements to enhance efficiency, scalability, and technological integration. Oversee the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and strategic plans to drive long-term financial sustainability.

Media Relations and Public Relations professionals are responsible for cultivating and maintaining relationships with journalists, influencers, and media outlets to enhance brand visibility and reputation. They craft compelling press releases, pitches, and media advisories, ensuring timely and accurate dissemination of key information. Additionally, they coordinate interviews, manage press conferences, and serve as the primary point of contact for media inquiries. Their role also involves monitoring media coverage, analyzing trends, and providing strategic recommendations to align communications with organizational goals. A strong grasp of current industry trends, exceptional writing skills, and the ability to thrive under pressure are essential for success in this position.

Draft, edit, and assist in the pitching of press releases, media statements, op-eds, and bylined articles to secure earned media placements.

Support the facilitation of media interviews by developing briefing materials such as concise briefing notes, strategic key messages, and comprehensive Q&A documents.

Develop and nurture professional connections with journalists, editors, and key media stakeholders across pertinent platforms to ensure robust and effective communication channels.

Monitor daily media coverage to identify shifts in sentiment and detect emerging issues, promptly escalating any potential reputational risks to the appropriate stakeholders.

Craft compelling written materials for newsletters, brochures, fact sheets, website updates, and corporate publications, ensuring accuracy and alignment with organizational objectives.

Assist in the development and scheduling of content for Prudential Kenya’s social media channels, ensuring consistency with the established brand tone and guidelines.

Oversee a well-organized content repository while assisting with the communications calendar to facilitate prompt material delivery.

To ensure seamless internal communication and adherence to brand guidelines, this role focuses on maintaining consistent messaging across all channels and upholding corporate identity standards. Responsibilities include developing and implementing communication strategies, monitoring brand compliance across departments, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to reinforce brand integrity. Responsibilities include venue selection and booking, coordinating with vendors, managing event budgets, and ensuring seamless execution of events. Additionally, the position may involve creating promotional materials, handling media relations, and supporting PR campaigns to enhance brand visibility and engagement.

Assist in organizing and executing press conferences, media briefings, webinars, public relations events, and stakeholder engagements to ensure seamless communication and engagement.
