A Mechanical Technician is sought to uphold the peak operational condition of production and processing machinery. Duties encompass proactive and reactive maintenance, diagnosing intricate mechanical failures, and aiding in the installation and adjustment of equipment. This position plays a pivotal role in reducing unplanned downtime, safeguarding product integrity, and fostering a secure workplace in adherence to all applicable food safety regulations, including GMP and BRC standards.

Oversee and execute key responsibilities encompassing the planning, coordination, and execution of critical initiatives to drive organizational success. Lead strategic projects by collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with company objectives and timelines. Facilitate efficient workflows by delegating tasks, monitoring progress, and providing actionable feedback to enhance productivity and performance. Identify and mitigate potential risks through proactive problem-solving and data-driven decision-making. Maintain compliance with industry regulations and internal policies while fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement. Serve as a liaison between departments to streamline communication and resolve interdepartmental challenges effectively.

Conduct both regular and urgent mechanical diagnostics to identify and resolve issues with production machinery.

Read mechanical drawings, PIDs, and technical manuals with precision to identify and diagnose faults effectively.

Conduct the planned Preventive Maintenance (PM) program to reduce the occurrence of unplanned downtime.

Perform condition-based monitoring with a focus on techniques such as vibration analysis, oil analysis, thermography, and ultrasonic leak detection.

Ensure strict compliance with Lockout-Ragout (LOT) protocols and adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) at all times.

Identify mechanical hazards and report them promptly while ensuring all mechanical operations adhere to Food Safety Standards.

Address mechanical breakdowns swiftly to minimize operational disruptions and restore productivity promptly.

Collaborate effectively with production teams to identify issues and deliver specialized technical assistance.

Provide support for the installation, commissioning, and mechanical configuration of new equipment.

Maintenance activities and part utilization must be recorded precisely at all times.

Perform comprehensive root cause analyses (RCA) on equipment failures and devise and execute corrective measures to mitigate the risk of future incidents.

Propose enhancements to mechanical systems with the objective of improving reliability, efficiency, and safety standards.

Applicants must meet the following essential criteria to be considered for the position. A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent work experience is required, along with a minimum of three years of professional experience in a related role. Proficiency in industry-standard software and tools is mandatory, and candidates should demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are necessary to collaborate effectively with teams and stakeholders. Additionally, the ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines is expected. Familiarity with current trends and best practices in the industry is also advantageous.

A degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related discipline, is strongly preferred.

A minimum of six years’ hands-on experience as a Mechanical Technician within a manufacturing setting is required, with prior involvement in food or beverage production serving as an additional asset.

Skilled in analyzing and comprehending mechanical drawings, PIDs, and equipment manuals with precision.

Proficient in practical troubleshooting of mechanical systems, with expertise in conveyors, pumps, hydraulics, and pneumatics.

Proficient in using specialized precision maintenance instruments, including laser alignment systems, dial indicators, and torque wrenches.

A foundational knowledge of the interface between mechanical systems and their impact on electrical control systems, including components such as limit switches and sensors, is required.

Proficiency in mechanical systems relevant to food processing, including sanitary design principles, stainless steel finishes, and compatibility with Clean-in-Place (CIP) and Sterilize-in-Place (SIP) systems, is required.
