About the Role
We seek a skilled Mechanical Technician to uphold the peak operational efficiency of all production and processing machinery. Key duties encompass conducting preventative and corrective maintenance, diagnosing intricate mechanical failures, and assisting with installation and modification initiatives. This position plays a pivotal role in reducing unplanned downtime, safeguarding product integrity, and fostering a secure workplace in strict adherence to food safety regulations, including GMP and BRC standards.
Oversee a range of critical duties to ensure smooth operations, collaborating with cross-functional teams to achieve organizational goals. Develop and implement strategies that enhance efficiency, productivity, and overall performance. Lead and mentor team members, providing guidance and support to foster professional growth and development. Monitor and evaluate workflows to identify areas for improvement, implementing corrective actions as needed. Maintain compliance with industry regulations and company policies while promoting a culture of accountability and excellence. Serve as a liaison between departments to facilitate seamless communication and coordination of projects.
Conduct both standard and urgent mechanical diagnostics to identify and resolve issues affecting production machinery.
Interpret mechanical drawings, PIDs, and technical manuals to accurately diagnose faults.
Implement the scheduled Preventive Maintenance (PM) program to reduce the occurrence of unplanned downtime.
Perform condition-based monitoring, including vibration analysis, oil analysis, thermography, and ultrasonic leak detection.
Ensure strict compliance with Lockout-Ragout (LOT) protocols and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) at all times.
Assess and communicate any mechanical hazards present, while guaranteeing that all mechanical operations adhere strictly to Food Safety Standards.
Address mechanical failures expeditiously to ensure swift resumption of operations and maintain optimal productivity levels.
Collaborate effectively with production teams to identify issues and deliver expert technical assistance.
Provide support for the installation, commissioning, and mechanical configuration of new equipment.
Maintain comprehensive records of all maintenance actions performed and parts utilized.
Conduct comprehensive root cause analyses (RCA) for equipment failures and develop and execute corrective measures to eliminate the possibility of repeated incidents.
Propose enhancements to mechanical systems with the goal of improving their reliability, efficiency, and overall safety performance.
Minimum qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, a minimum of three years of professional experience, and proficiency in industry-standard software applications. Candidates must demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, along with the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment. Familiarity with project management principles and methodologies is essential, and prior supervisory experience is highly advantageous. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are required to effectively interact with stakeholders at all levels.
A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline, is strongly preferred.
With a minimum of six years of experience as a Mechanical Technician within a manufacturing setting—particularly in food or beverage production—this role requires a proven track record in the field. Previous work in food or beverage processing environments is advantageous.
Skilled in analyzing and comprehending mechanical drawings, PIDs, and equipment manuals with precision and expertise.
Demonstrates exceptional proficiency in diagnosing and resolving issues within mechanical systems such as conveyors, pumps, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
Demonstrated proficiency in utilizing precision maintenance instruments, including laser alignment devices, dial indicators, and torque wrenches, is required.
A fundamental knowledge of the interaction between mechanical systems and electrical control systems, such as limit switches and sensors, is required.
Proficiency in mechanical systems relevant to food processing, including sanitary design principles, stainless steel finishes, and compatibility with Clean-in-Place (CIP) and Sterilize-in-Place (SIP) systems, is required.
