Position Summary

The Quality Assurance Manager will report directly to the Chief Operations Officer, providing leadership to quality assurance functions while overseeing quality control initiatives throughout the supply chain. This role will involve managing audit processes, ensuring compliance with regulatory frameworks, and supervising quality teams to uphold stringent standards. Responsibilities include guaranteeing adherence to both local and international food safety protocols, as well as export requirements such as Global. A.P., HACCP, BRC, phytosanitary regulations, and any additional customer-specific mandates.

Oversee and execute a comprehensive range of duties and responsibilities essential to the role, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and operational standards. Facilitate and manage key processes, initiatives, and projects with precision, adhering to established policies and procedures. Collaborate effectively across departments to drive performance, optimize workflows, and maintain high standards of efficiency and accountability.

Ensures the implementation and maintenance of robust Quality Assurance and Food Safety Systems to uphold regulatory compliance and product integrity. Develops, reviews, and updates standard operating procedures (SOPs), specifications, and documentation in alignment with industry best practices and legal requirements. Conducts regular audits, inspections, and risk assessments to identify potential hazards, non-conformances, and areas for improvement. Collaborates with cross-functional teams, including production, procurement, and logistics, to enforce food safety protocols and mitigate operational risks. Trains personnel on food safety standards, hygiene practices, and quality control measures to foster a culture of compliance. Investigates quality deviations, customer complaints, and non-conformances to implement corrective and preventive actions (Caps). Monitors and analyzes quality metrics, trends, and KPIs to drive continuous improvement initiatives and ensure adherence to quality objectives. Stays informed about evolving regulations, emerging risks, and technological advancements in food safety to proactively enhance system effectiveness.

Develop, execute, and oversee quality assurance systems, food safety protocols, and quality benchmarks to ensure consistency in avocado characteristics such as maturity, size, color, firmness, appearance, weight, and ripeness, as well as overall product uniformity.

Ensures adherence to rigorous quality standards throughout the supply chain by systematically monitoring and verifying each stage of production and distribution. Develops and implements quality control protocols to identify and mitigate potential risks, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and company policies. Conducts thorough inspections and audits to assess supplier performance, material integrity, and operational efficiency. Collaborates with procurement, manufacturing, and logistics teams to resolve quality discrepancies and drive continuous improvement initiatives. Maintains detailed documentation of quality assessments and corrective actions for traceability and reporting purposes.

Responsibilities include supervising quality control measures throughout sourcing, harvesting, packing, storage, transportation, and export operations. Regular inspections of incoming produce are performed, and post-harvest handling practices are closely monitored to minimize bruising, spoilage, contamination, and product waste.

Assuring adherence to regulatory standards, conducting comprehensive audits, and managing certification processes are key responsibilities within this role. The position demands meticulous attention to detail, strong analytical capabilities, and proficiency in interpreting complex compliance frameworks. Additionally, the individual must effectively communicate findings, implement corrective actions, and maintain up-to-date knowledge of evolving industry regulations to ensure organizational alignment with legal and ethical requirements.

To uphold adherence to both local and international food safety regulations as well as export standards, oversee internal quality audits and facilitate external inspections conducted by regulatory authorities, certification entities, and export clients.

Investigate customer and export partner quality complaints thoroughly, perform detailed root cause analyses, and establish corrective and preventive measures to minimize recurrence.

Oversee a team of quality assurance inspectors and quality control personnel, delegating responsibilities, evaluating performance, and providing training to farmworkers, packhorse teams, and inspectors on quality benchmarks, sanitation protocols, food safety regulations, and proper handling techniques.

As a key contributor to our organization, you will be responsible for establishing and maintaining robust reporting mechanisms, ensuring traceability across all processes, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. You will develop and implement data-driven reports to monitor performance, identify trends, and support decision-making. Additionally, you will oversee documentation standards to guarantee compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies while fostering a culture of efficiency and innovation. Your role will involve collaborating with cross-functional teams to analyze process gaps, recommend corrective actions, and measure the impact of improvements. Maintain precise quality records, inspection reports, traceability documentation, and certification records with meticulous accuracy. Evaluate quality performance metrics to identify opportunities for enhancement, fostering reductions in waste, enhanced product consistency, increased export acceptance rates, and alignment with sustainability and traceability objectives.

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is required, along with a minimum of five years of progressive experience in financial management or accounting roles. Strong proficiency in GAAP, financial reporting, and data analysis is essential. Experience with ERP systems, particularly SAP or Oracle, is preferred. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are necessary to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. The ability to meet tight deadlines while maintaining high accuracy is critical. Familiarity with tax compliance and audit processes is a plus. A CPA certification would be advantageous.

A bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Quality Assurance, Microbiology, or a closely related discipline is required.

With a minimum of seven years of dedicated experience in quality assurance within the food processing sector, candidates should demonstrate a strong background in maintaining compliance and upholding industry standards.

Proficient in quality control processes, testing methodologies, regulatory compliance, and food safety regulations.

Proficiency in quality management systems, laboratory operations, audit processes, and export compliance regulations would be beneficial.
