About the Role
Reporting directly to the Branch Manager, the Finance Assistant will handle the preparation of Branch credit reports, perform debtor reconciliations, process receipts, manage banking activities, and oversee petty cash operations.
Oversee and execute essential duties, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives while maintaining high standards of performance and accountability. Drive strategic initiatives and operational tasks, fostering collaboration across teams to enhance productivity and achieve measurable outcomes. Monitor progress, analyze performance metrics, and implement improvements as necessary to optimize efficiency and effectiveness. Serve as a key liaison to stakeholders, communicating priorities, resolving challenges, and ensuring seamless coordination of resources.
Contribute to the execution of the organization’s credit management guidelines to ensure adherence to established financial protocols.
Monthly commission and debtor’s statements are dispatched, while inquiries regarding outstanding accounts from intermediaries are addressed and resolved.
Apply reminders to accounts to guarantee debts are settled promptly and to ensure complete follow-through by the designated intermediaries.
Responsibilities include delegating unpaid debts to external collection agencies, overseeing any legal proceedings, and submitting relevant reports to the Credit Reference Bureau (CRB).
Collect premiums on a monthly basis through automated debit transactions.
We identify and actively pursue individuals or entities with long-overdue debts, evaluating their capacity to repay whenever feasible.
To ensure timely resolution, monitor bounced checks and promptly liaise with clients to obtain replacements when necessary, submitting a comprehensive monthly report summarizing all actions taken.
Verify remittances, including RTGS, EFT, and IPS, ensuring receipting is completed within 24 hours, while also tracking daily premium receipts and overseeing the banking process for all incoming payments.
Each week, conduct in-person visits and telephone communications with intermediaries to follow up on collections and reconciliations, then prepare and submit a detailed report.
Who We’re Looking For
Seeking a candidate with a minimum of five years of experience in a senior-level role, preferably within a similar industry. The ideal applicant must possess a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, such as Business Administration, Finance, or Engineering, and demonstrate expertise in project management, strategic planning, and team leadership. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and advanced data analysis tools is essential, along with strong interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders. Familiarity with industry-specific regulations and compliance standards is also required.
A relevant bachelor’s degree is required for this position.
Progress in attaining a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ARCA), or Certificate in Credit Control Management is essential. These qualifications validate expertise in financial accounting, compliance, and credit management, providing a strong foundation for advancing in the field. Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to continuous professional development and possess the analytical skills necessary to interpret financial data accurately. Additionally, familiarity with regulatory frameworks and proficiency in relevant accounting software will enhance performance in this role.
