    Responsibilities

    Overview
    Reporting to the Safe Care Manager, the Availability advisor provides technical oversight to the supplies chain management at the Ipas Africa Alliance to enhance availability of comprehensive abortion care and contraceptive services. He/ She develops and implements strategies designed to enhance availability and accessibility of abortion care technologies and commodities including Ipas MVA plus kits, MA drugs Contraceptive commodities and related supplies in all intervention facilities. He/ she works closely with the quality of care team and ASRH advisor to ensure to enhance program implementation and sustainable supplies in intervention counties. S/he is responsible for supporting the planning, development, and implementation of the organizational medical supplies quality assurance policy for sustainable Ipas programming. This position is based at the Alliance field office in Kisumu.
    Responsibilities

    Provides supplies oversight and coordination of the supplies chain process to ensure that Ipas procurement and product selection standards align to the national formulary and equipment specifications.
    Review and monitor organizational budgets for commodity and equipment and track utilization of the budgets for effective program implementation.
    Develops and maintains an organizational supplies schedule for commodities, supplies and equipment and liaises with the procurement unit to ensure timely scheduled procurement.
    Sets and reviews periodically the minimum and maximum stock levels for the organization.
    Liaises with the quality advisor on technical issues arising from health facilities and supplies management and participate in county and provide programmatic support as a member of the provider support team.
    Work with County Pharmacists to oversee inventory management for abortion care and contraceptive supplies and commodities within the Ipas storage facilities in liaison with the availability associates.
    Provide semi -annual status of stock/ equipment and distribution reports to the Senior Health management team and follow up recommendations to improve efficient and effective program implementation.
    Work with the technical lead to develop and implement a sustainability strategy for service delivery programs with regards to commodity and equipment security.
    Identifies and recommends suppliers of abortion care equipment, commodities and supplies in accordance to Ipas policies and processes and liaises with the other technical  that Ipas and service providers can implement cost effective programs that align to the value for money principle.
    Participate in relevant technical working group meetings at national and county level working on commodity security.
    Ensures compliance to the Ipas Medical supplies and Pharmaceuticals procurement and Quality Assurance Policy and standards.

    Requirements
    Minimum Requirements:

    Bachelor Degree in Pharmacy with 4+ years professional experience in supplies chain management/ Diploma in Pharmacy with 7+ years experience/Bachelor degree with 10+ years experience
    Must be familiar with the MoH National and County National Supplies Chain system
    Experience in working with MoH National/ County health management teams with good understanding of the public health delivery system and the community strategy.
    Previous experience on capacity building and supervision on supplies chain management in programming

    Preferred requirements

    Competency in use Microsoft office.
    Good analytical skills
    Good communication and presentation skills

    Requirements

    Must be registered with the Pharmacy and Poisons Board.
    Diploma in Pharmaceutical Technology from a recognized Medical Training.
    At least one-year experience post internship in a retail pharmacy.

    Key Responsibilities

    Maintain pharmacy inventory by checking pharmaceutical stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed medications and supplies; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipts; removing outdated drugs & preparing ageing reports frequently.
    Maintain a safe and clean environment.
    Adhere to infection control policies and protocols and standard operating procedures.
    Prepare daily reports per manager’s directive.
    Adhere to the Dangerous Drug Act regulations.
    Perform other duties as directed by Chebu management.

    Pharmacy Technologist

    The Pharmacy Technologist will be responsible for providing quality services to clients by dispensing medications, ordering and managing the stocks of medications and supplies.
    Duties 

    Prepares medications by reviewing and interpreting physician orders
    Dispenses medications, packaging, and labelling pharmaceuticals as per the prescription.
    Controls medications by monitoring drug therapies, advising on interactions and advising clinicians on alternatives.
    Provides pharmacological information by answering questions and requests of health care professionals; counselling patients on drug therapies.
    Maintains pharmacological knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
    Responsible for safety and security of the pharmacy.
    Works in collaboration with the Finance and Admin Manager to prepare purchase orders.
    Stock management and enforces loss preventions policies at the pharmacy.
    Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
    Prepares daily reports and other reports as requested.
    Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

    Job Qualifications

    Degree or diploma in pharmacy from a reputable university or institution.
    Valid/Current practicing certificate and registration with the professional body.
    At least 1-year experience as a pharmacy technologist.
    Excellent communication, interpersonal and analytical skills; pays attention to detail.
    Computer literacy, with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
    Ability to work effectively with a team in a culturally diverse environment.
