As a Business Development professional, you will be responsible for identifying and pursuing new business opportunities to drive growth and expand market presence. Your role involves conducting market research, analyzing industry trends, and developing strategic plans to enhance revenue streams. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess potential partnerships, negotiate deals, and secure new clients. Additionally, you will maintain strong relationships with existing clients to ensure satisfaction and foster long-term loyalty. Strong communication skills, strategic thinking, and a results-driven mindset are essential for success in this position.

Devise and implement a monthly strategy to expand the practice, accompanied by quarterly objectives for revenue, pipeline expansion, and client acquisition.

Leverage professional networks, referral partnerships, events, and strategic outreach initiatives to cultivate and convert high-quality leads.

Consistently cultivate and manage a pipeline comprising a minimum of five prospective clients each month.

Build and oversee a minimum of four strategic referral partnerships with active engagement each year.

Develop and deliver monthly thought leadership materials, encompassing tax insights, analyses of the Finance Act, audit readiness guides, and interactive webinars.

Serving as the firm’s ambassador, you will engage with IC PAK, industry forums, and other professional events to represent the organization’s interests and enhance its visibility.

Construct a cohesive and high-caliber tax and audit team that not only meets but exceeds established performance benchmarks while driving the strategic expansion of our practice.

Handles the preparation, review, and filing of tax returns, ensuring compliance with all relevant federal, state, and local regulations while identifying opportunities to optimize tax positions. Conducts audits to verify financial accuracy, assess risk management, and ensure adherence to internal policies and external standards. Develops and implements robust compliance frameworks to mitigate regulatory risks, maintain ethical standards, and uphold organizational integrity. Collaborates with cross-functional teams to streamline processes, enhance reporting accuracy, and support strategic decision-making through data-driven insights.

Ensure the organization’s statutory tax compliance is consistently maintained while guaranteeing the timely and precise submission of all tax obligations.

Lead tax compliance engagements by overseeing corporate income tax, VAT, PAYE, Withholding Tax, Excise Duty, NSSF, SHIP, Housing Levy, and Installment Tax filings via tax.

Provide expert tax advisory services encompassing strategic tax planning, corporate structuring, compliance evaluations, and optimized tax strategies.

Perform comprehensive assessments of tax health and evaluate tax risks, subsequently delivering practical recommendations and structured remediation strategies.

You will serve as an advocate for clients in engagements with the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), handling audits, compliance evaluations, objections, Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) proceedings, and proceedings before the Tax Appeals Tribunal.

Track legislative and regulatory developments, providing clients with prompt updates and advisory notes.

Provide strategic guidance to senior leadership regarding potential tax, financial, and regulatory risks that may impact the firm and its clients.

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required; CPA or CMA certification strongly preferred. Minimum of five years of progressive accounting experience, including at least two years in a supervisory or managerial capacity. Proficiency in GAAP, financial reporting, and tax compliance is essential. Strong analytical skills and attention to detail are critical. Experience with ERP systems and advanced Excel capabilities (e.g., pivot tables, LOOKUP) is necessary. Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities to collaborate with cross-functional teams. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and efficiency. Knowledge of international accounting standards (IFRS) is a plus.

A recognized CPA(K) designation with current IC PAK membership in good standing or an equivalent ARCA/CA credential is required.

A recognized university degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, Economics, or a related field is required.

A minimum of three years of progressive experience in tax and audit, gained within a professional services setting, is required.

Proven experience in business development, evidenced by measurable contributions such as client acquisition, revenue generation, successful proposal wins, or measurable expansion of a practice.

Demonstrated success in overseeing statutory audits through their entire lifecycle, from initial planning to final execution.

With a proven track record of advocating for clients in interactions with the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), you possess the necessary expertise to navigate tax-related matters effectively.

Required is expertise in audit software solutions like Caneware, Craftwork, or comparable platforms.

Proficient in utilizing leading accounting systems such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, or ERP solutions.

Proficient in Microsoft Excel and experienced in data analytics, with an added advantage for candidates possessing these skills.
