We are seeking a seasoned Tax, Audit & Compliance professional to oversee financial integrity, ensure regulatory adherence, and manage tax obligations with precision. This role requires a meticulous approach to reviewing financial statements, identifying discrepancies, and implementing controls to mitigate risks. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, a deep understanding of tax laws and audit standards, and the ability to communicate complex findings clearly to stakeholders. Responsibilities include preparing and filing tax returns, conducting internal audits, ensuring compliance with local and international regulations, and advising leadership on financial best practices. Proficiency in accounting software and tax compliance tools is essential, along with relevant certifications such as CPA or CIA.

Provide strategic leadership for the firm’s statutory tax compliance initiatives, guaranteeing prompt and precise fulfillment of all tax obligations.

Lead tax compliance engagements encompassing corporate income tax, value-added tax (VAT), pay-as-you-earn (PAYE) tax, withholding tax, excise duty, NSSF contributions, SHIP payments, housing levy obligations, and installment tax filings via the tax platform.

Provide expert guidance on tax-related matters, encompassing strategic tax planning, business structuring, thorough compliance evaluations, and customized optimization initiatives to enhance financial outcomes.

Perform comprehensive assessments of tax processes and potential tax risks, delivering strategic recommendations and detailed remediation strategies.

Handle client engagements with the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) across audits, compliance evaluations, objections, Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) proceedings, and Tax Appeals Tribunal cases.

Track legislative and regulatory developments to promptly produce client updates and advisory notes.

Provide strategic guidance to senior leadership regarding tax implications, financial exposures, and regulatory challenges impacting the organization and its clientele.

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is required. At least five years of direct experience in software development, with proficiency in multiple programming languages such as Java, Python, or C++. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment are essential. Experience with cloud platforms like AWS or Azure and familiarity with DevOps practices is highly desirable. Excellent communication skills to articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders are also necessary.

Seeking candidates with an active IC PAK membership in good standing and a CPA(K) qualification, or an equivalent ARCA/CA credential.

A recognized university degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, Economics, or a closely related discipline is required.

Minimum requirement is three years of progressive tax and audit experience within a professional services setting.

Proven success in business development, evidenced by metrics such as client acquisition, revenue generation, successful proposal wins, or expansion of client portfolio.

Accomplished in overseeing statutory audit engagements, from initial planning stages through to finalization.

Possesses a proven track record of advocating for clients in dealings with the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA).

Proven expertise in utilizing audit software platforms, including Caneware and Craftwork, or comparable systems, is required.

Proven expertise in utilizing accounting systems such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, or ERP solutions is required.

Proficient in Microsoft Excel, with a strong emphasis on advanced functionality; prior experience in data analytics is highly beneficial.
