Collaborating closely with regional WBG teams, this role involves contributing to the development and execution of CFS’s strategy, with particular emphasis on advancing WBG’s strategic priorities across the Africa region.

EMP and M&A Advisory professionals will partner with regional leaders to spearhead the origination and execution of advisory mandates across buy-side and sell-side transactions, restructuring initiatives, and EMP services throughout the Africa region.

Leading the origination and execution of strategic pre-IPO advisory mandates across five regions, this role involves guiding teams in advising clients on listing processes, suitability, timing, regulatory requirements, and critical considerations. Responsibilities include evaluating and advising on corporate and balance sheet structures, valuation assessments, and business planning strategies, as well as developing detailed listing timetables, broker selection frameworks, and prospectus reviews. Additionally, the position entails preparing management and the board for the listing process and providing advisory services related to corporate governance.

Relationship Management: Cultivating robust connections with regional and industry stakeholders across Africa to uncover collaborative opportunities that bolster business growth and delivery while ensuring alignment with IFC’s corporate objectives.

Client Management: Collaborating with multi-regional clients and internal stakeholders to develop tailored transaction strategies and conduct comprehensive bankability assessments, funding feasibility studies, financial modeling, and business planning or restructuring initiatives.

We facilitate the preparation and review of essential transaction reports and project documentation, including marketing materials for each transaction, information memorandum, due diligence findings, transaction structuring analyses, and the drafting of contracts and agreements.

Mentorship: Providing guidance and support to junior colleagues to facilitate their attainment of business objectives, ensuring their professional development and alignment with organizational goals.

Corporate Initiative: Advancing IFC’s presence within the CFS sector by leveraging the organization’s established regional brand alongside its broader communications strategy.

We are seeking a highly motivated individual with a proven ability to meet stringent selection criteria for this pivotal role. The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of five years of relevant experience, along with exceptional analytical, communication, and organizational skills. Responsibilities include evaluating applications, conducting thorough interviews, and making well-informed hiring decisions to ensure the right talent is placed in the appropriate positions. Proficiency in applicant tracking systems and a strong understanding of employment laws and best practices are essential. The ideal candidate will demonstrate proficiency in the following competencies and qualifications:

A Master’s degree or an equivalent professional qualification in finance, business, law, or consulting, along with at least 12 to 15 years of relevant experience, is required. Candidates with a diverse background encompassing one or more of these fields will be given preference.

With a strong background in equity transactions, having served as a principal investor, advisor, or underwriter within investment banks, venture capital firms, or private equity institutions, you bring extensive expertise to the role.

Seeking professionals with transaction advisory expertise in buy-side mandates, sell-side mandates, and restructuring mandates, with a preferred focus on the disruptive technology sector.

Proven ability to consistently achieve specific outcomes on Mergers & Acquisitions, Restructuring, and Initial Public Offering engagements, even within demanding timeframes and high-pressure conditions.

Skilled in cultivating enduring client partnerships and delivering mandates seamlessly across international jurisdictions and complex operational settings.

Proven experience in successfully taking companies public on prominent international stock exchanges like the New York Stock Exchange and the London Stock Exchange is highly desirable.

Delivers business outcomes consistently, possesses proven investment expertise, exercises exceptional business acumen, and maintains a well-established professional reputation.
