We assist in developing and executing CFS’s strategy through close collaboration with the regional WBG teams, emphasizing WBG’s strategic priorities in the Africa region.

EMP and M&A Advisory professionals will partner with regional leaders to spearhead the development and completion of buy-side and sell-side advisory projects, restructuring initiatives, and EMP services mandates across the African region.

Leading origination and execution of strategic pre-IPO advisory mandates across five regions, this role involves collaborating with teams to guide clients through listing processes, including evaluating suitability, timing, regulatory requirements, and key considerations. Responsibilities include advising on current corporate and balance sheet structures, valuation assessments, and business planning strategies. The position also entails developing detailed listing timetables, assisting with broker selection, and conducting prospectus reviews. Additionally, the role focuses on preparing management and the board for the listing process and providing advisory services related to corporate governance.

Relationship Management: Establishing and nurturing robust connections with internal stakeholders across regional and industry sectors in Africa, with the goal of uncovering collaborative opportunities that advance business growth and delivery while ensuring alignment with IFC corporate objectives.

Client Management: Collaborating effectively with international clients and internal teams to devise transaction strategies, perform bankability evaluations, assess funding feasibility, and conduct financial modeling as well as business planning and restructuring initiatives.

We prepare and review essential transaction documentation, including marketing materials for each deal, information memorandum, due diligence reports, transaction structuring documents, and final contracts and agreements.

Mentorship: Providing guidance and support to junior colleagues to facilitate their attainment of business objectives.

Corporate Initiative: Enhancing IFC’s presence in the CFS sector by leveraging the organization’s regional brand and aligning with its overarching communications strategy.

The position requires a candidate who meets specific qualifications and demonstrates relevant experience. Applicants should possess strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills to effectively perform the job duties. Proficiency in industry-standard software, tools, or methodologies is essential for success in this role. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, capable of managing multiple priorities, and adept at collaborating with cross-functional teams. Prior experience in a similar position or field is highly preferred.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate proficiency in the following competencies and background:

A Master’s degree—or an equivalent professional qualification—in finance, business, law, or consulting is required, along with at least 12 to 15 years of relevant professional experience. Candidates with a hybrid background spanning two or more of these disciplines will be highly regarded.

With extensive experience in equity transactions, whether as a principal investor, advisor, or underwriter, across investment banks, venture capital, or private equity institutions.

Seeking professionals with transaction advisory expertise, particularly in buy-side mandates, sell-side mandates, and restructuring mandates, with a preference for experience in the disruptive technology sector.

Demonstrates a proven ability to achieve specific, high-impact outcomes in mergers and acquisitions, restructuring initiatives, and initial public offering engagements, consistently within demanding schedules and high-pressure conditions.

Demonstrated expertise in cultivating enduring client partnerships and delivering strategic mandates across international markets and challenging conditions.

Proven track record in managing initial public offerings (IPOs) on prominent global stock exchanges, including the New York Stock Exchange and the London Stock Exchange, is highly desirable.

Demonstrated expertise in achieving business objectives, coupled with a proven history of investment success and strategic decision-making, underscores a reputation for professional integrity and sound judgment.

A collaborative team member with a proven track record of thriving in diverse, multicultural settings and effectively engaging with distributed teams in fast-paced environments.
