The Humanitarian Action team provides essential support and assistance to local national offices (Nos) or partners, when necessary or upon request, to help them fulfill their mandate in alignment with the SOS Children’s Villages International Humanitarian Policy.
The Humanitarian Action Service is delivered by a nimble team of deployable senior humanitarian professionals who operate in an executive capacity within Member Associations, with the primary objective of strengthening their capabilities and facilitating the swift initiation or expansion of humanitarian operations.
This role encompasses the internal management of multiple funding streams and humanitarian appeals, particularly during extensive emergency responses, while also offering assistance in disaster preparedness, recovery efforts, and the implementation of emerging innovative approaches and partnership opportunities, both locally and internationally.
The department will implement a structured Humanitarian Development and Peace nexus approach by strategically aligning short-term, life-saving interventions with long-term recovery initiatives during both acute crises and prolonged emergencies. To ensure uninterrupted service delivery for affected communities in the event of significant crises, the Humanitarian Affairs (HA) team will collaborate closely with the existing long-term development program team, fostering seamless integration and coordinated action.
The Humanitarian Action Advisor (China) spearheads the systematic integration of child protection within SOS Children’s Villages’ humanitarian initiatives. This position delivers technical leadership and ensures quality assurance throughout the project lifecycle, facilitates proposal development, and enhances the capabilities of Member Associations to implement inclusive, child-centered, and gender-responsive interventions. By fostering innovation, testing novel methodologies, and representing SOS CV in critical coordination platforms, the Advisor advances program excellence, accountability, and sector-wide visibility in child protection.

A minimum of five years of professional experience in child protection and humanitarian programming is required, with at least two years specifically in international emergency settings.
