Build strategic partnerships with other NIH-funded initiatives while fostering collaborations with projects supported by foundations.
Engage in prominent international scientific forums, including the American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (ASTM), the Consortium of Universities for Global Health (HUGH), the World One Health Congress, and the annual conferences and workshops hosted by Africa CDC.
Acquaint yourself with the research initiatives underway in the laboratories of the designated co-mentoring principal investigators (PI’s) and commence your guided research project.
You will participate in monthly seminars and quarterly joint meetings, ensuring ongoing progress is monitored, and timely status updates are delivered.
Craft a compelling competitive research grant proposal from the inception of your fellowship, pursuing both internal and external funding opportunities to lay the foundation for your autonomous research program.
Candidates must meet the following qualifications: a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, at least three years of professional experience in a comparable role, and proficiency in industry-standard software applications. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are essential, along with the ability to work independently and collaboratively. Excellent communication and organizational abilities are also required.
A PhD in Clinical or Public Health Medicine, Veterinary Medicine, Medical Microbiology, Applied Microbiology, Immunology, Public Health/One Health, Tropical and Infectious Diseases, Molecular Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Bioinformatics, Data Science, or any related field is essential.
The position involves conducting research centered on the program’s One Health themes, encompassing Endemic and Neglected Zoonotic Infectious Diseases, Zoonotic and other Infectious Diseases, as well as Data Sciences. Essential skills and knowledge are required.
Candidates must demonstrate exceptional qualifications, evidenced by a robust publication history that aligns with one or more of HEART’s key thematic focus areas.
