POSITION SUMMARY:

The Protection Associate will spearhead the delivery of structured case management services for refugees and asylum seekers facing psychosocial challenges. This position emphasizes conducting assessments, developing individualized case plans, making referrals, and conducting follow-ups to ensure timely, confidential, and tailored support. Additionally, the Associate will enhance integrated, client-centered case management systems within HIAS programs while integrating Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) principles into broader protection strategies.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The position involves executing core responsibilities integral to the role, ensuring operational efficiency and alignment with organizational objectives. Key duties include managing project timelines, coordinating cross-functional teams, and overseeing deliverables to meet established benchmarks. Additionally, the role requires analyzing performance metrics, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing strategic solutions to enhance productivity. Strong problem-solving skills and adaptability are essential to navigate dynamic challenges and drive continuous progress. Effective communication and collaboration with stakeholders at all levels are also required to foster a cohesive and results-driven work environment.

Perform comprehensive intake evaluations and vulnerability screenings to determine client requirements, then design tailored case plans to address identified needs.

Ensure that referrals to suitable services are made promptly, and that consistent follow-up is conducted to evaluate progress and results.

Document case details in the compliance with confidentiality and data protection protocols, ensuring all information is accurately recorded in the case management system; compile and produce reports to support informed program decision-making.

Maintains and periodically updates service mapping and referral pathways to facilitate seamless integrated case management.

Proactively assess and identify individuals in need of specialized mental health support, then facilitate seamless referrals to suitable service providers to ensure timely access to necessary care.

Integrate foundational principles of psychosocial support into case management practices to maintain a trauma-informed and client-centered framework.

Engage in proactive outreach initiatives aimed at identifying at-risk individuals and connecting them with essential case management services to ensure they receive the necessary support.

Facilitate the establishment and maintenance of community-based systems designed to securely identify and refer individuals requiring assistance.

Facilitate mental health and psychosocial awareness initiatives aimed at encouraging help-seeking behavior while combating stigma.

Work collaboratively with protection teams to deliver unified, comprehensive assistance to vulnerable individuals, addressing issues such as violence, child protection risks, and other safeguarding concerns.

Develop and sustain productive partnerships with collaborators, local organizations, and service providers to enhance and streamline referral pathways.

Compile comprehensive reports on case management activities, trends, challenges, and service gaps in a prompt and precise manner.

Stay informed of evolving client requirements and play an active role in enhancing program offerings and strategic response planning.

To guarantee adherence to HIS policies regarding safeguarding, accountability to affected populations, and data protection.

Facilitate the professional development and skill enhancement of staff and community stakeholders through targeted training initiatives focusing on case management fundamentals, secure case handling protocols, and adherence to ethical guidelines.

Execute all additional duties as may be designated from time to time.

Qualifications & Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is required. Minimum of three years of professional experience in a comparable role is necessary. Proficiency in industry-standard software and tools is essential. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are a must. Excellent communication and teamwork abilities are needed. Familiarity with project management methodologies is preferred. Knowledge of compliance standards and regulations is advantageous. Ability to work independently and meet deadlines is critical.

Hold a bachelor’s degree or higher in psychology, sociology, social work, community development, or another closely related academic discipline.

With a minimum of one to two years of professional experience in case management, specifically within Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) or protection programming, you will bring valuable expertise to our team.

Preferred experience includes work with refugees or other vulnerable populations.

Professional individuals should possess expertise in case management principles, adhere to the Inter-Agency Standing Committee (IAS) Minimum Standards for Mental Health and Psychosocial Support in Emergency Settings (MHPSS), and comply with safeguarding frameworks.

Proficiency in the Accountability to Affected Population (AAP) framework is required, ensuring ethical standards and accountability measures are upheld in all humanitarian operations.
