Selected Responsibilities/Activities.
Prepare a detailed report on the engagement activities involved in the co-implementation of public spaces in Kilifi and Mombasa Counties.
Create a report summarizing the outcomes and findings of the Minecraft co-design workshop conducted for Tudor Beach in Mombasa.
Build and maintain a database of partners for the public space and placemaking network along the Coast of Kenya, establishing collaborations and fostering relationships with relevant stakeholders.
Prepare a comprehensive report on stakeholder workshops conducted in Mombasa.
Develop a management and maintenance framework for public spaces in Mombasa and Kilifi, ensuring effective and sustainable operations.
Conduct a site-specific assessment of a public space in Mombasa and compile a comprehensive assessment report.
Provide support to the team in further developing the work on Nature Based Solutions and sustainable urban design planning approaches.
Contribute to community-led activities aimed to enhance understanding and share knowledge of public spaces on the local and regional level.
Contribute to the section’s work in the development of sustainable cities and communities by providing support in related events and projects, particularly the Africa Climate Summit, World Urban Forum and Urban October, amongst others.
Qualifications/special skills
Education: Degree in sociology, community development, architecture, landscape architecture, land use planning, urban policy or political science with a focus on urban affairs, or other related fields is required.
Experience At least 2 years of work experience in urban development, urban health, public spaces, urban assessment related work, and/or urban and regional planning and design, or related fields is required.
Experience in international settings and knowledge of UN-Habitat activities and its partner programmes would be an asset.
